Why should I keep contributing?
Seriously, all I do on here is answer the same dozen or so questions. People have no incentive to search to see whether their question has already been asked, and so all I see is a constant stream of the same inane (and often misspelled and/or moronic) questions.
Lately I've started only answering new, difficult or unusual questions, but having to trawl through the dross for the one worthwhile question a day is getting very old.
And what do we get in return? Usually there's no word of thanks and with about 90% for questions, the asker doesn't even bother to choose a best answer.
So, once more here's my question. Why should I, an expert in my chosen fields, devote a not inconsiderable of my time and effort to supplying the same information over and over again?....

I agree 100%
I think yahoo needs to reward you somehow for your answers.
What about they give you "yahoo dollars" which you can use for select merchants that want to work with yahoo.
That would bring those merchants business.
At least that is an idea, rather than...yay..good job... you have 4323432423432432423 points.
At the VERY LEAST they need to have a 21 and over section of yahoo answers, because with kids getting on the computer at a younger and younger age, yahoo answers is turning in to a place filled with 12-17 year olds.
PS - I always say thank you to whoever answers my questions!

Just troll a lot and you'll get Top contributor believe me I know the system
And you're right, most people here are braindead imbeciles, there is no incentive to give real answers most of the time

You are the one who chose to answer those questions. No one is forcing you to participate. If you feel the questions aren't worthy, and you're tired of givent the same answers to the same questions, then don't answer them. There are other question and answer sites that use a point system, possibly with participants averaging a little older than here, that might suit your area of expertise better.

Honestly,
I'm getting bored with YA too. It's teenie boppers wanting to know if they're hot, pregnant or how many licks it takes to finish a tootsie pop.
It was moderately addicting to me in the beginning but I now spend significantly less time.

Yahoo Answers is a community, we all help each other in whatever ways we can. If you don't have satisfaction in helping others with their questions, no ones asking you to. Don't bother. Thanks on behalf of the community though!!
