What is up with my cat?
Ever since we adopted her over a year ago, she has never had a problem using her litter box. Not once, even after moving to a new house and not being familiar with where her litter box is.. well, last week she pooped in our bathroom floor twice (her litter box is in the bathroom, and the bathroom is small.. so she wasn't far away!). Then today, she pooped again in the kitchen, right in front of her food dish. Luckily, she hasn't gone on the carpet yet, but I'm afraid she will. We haven't changed her diet at all, we haven't given her any less attention, she hasn't been around any other animals.. I don't know what else it could be. Any ideas as to why, and how I can fix this?
Those are both good ideas, but I don't think either are it. She could be getting picky about the litter, but I keep up with it pretty well, and it used to get way worse when I worked more.
And she's not old at all. She was only about 5 months when we got her.

If you've not taken your cat to the vet I suggest to in order to rule out any medical problems or issues. You may also want to completely empty the whole litter box and clean it thoroughly if you haven't already. Maybe try a different litter.
I've actually been having a similar problem. The cat keeps relieving herself, bowels only, on the bedroom floor.
Litter box is cleaned daily with weekly box cleanings, no changes in food, attention, area, etc, and the vet has found no medical problems. We've also tried a different type of kitty litter to rule out a problem with that.
The strange thing is, it's usually only in the evening or at night that it happens.
Good luck and I hope you find a solution soon.

First you should change her litter box
Second you might be not feeding her in her usual time slot cats are very picky for when they are fed
Third there's this product at PetCo called Feline away. Its a spay thing that you spray and it keeps your cat from pooing in the same place. So I'd put it on the carpets before you leave for work.

Show her the litter box. Put her in there so she knows that is her litter box. You might have to retrain her like when she was small.
If that doesn't work, maybe she doesn't like the new home or she has an upset stomach. i don't know what to tell you.
Maybe a vet can help you.
EDIT:
Try something new:
Try changing her litter for organic litter, its cheaper than the reg and it keeps the smell away. Just so she gets the feel of something new. Who knows ,it might work!
I use organic litter made of corn, no smell and its less damaging to the cat. Reg litter goes on their nails and paws than they swallow by mistake.

Maybe you need to change her litter sand. When I don't change my cat's litter sand for a while she does the same thing
