I love that show “The New Adventures of Old Christine” where you wonder where she can even make money with her little gym where the power shuts down because somebody did not pay the power bill!
I went to a gym once, for 2 months, to get in shape for a ski vacation.
I got extremely good results but during those 2 months, I was surrounded by body builders, huge, muscular guys, huffing and screaming with insanely heavy weights. I was the only out-of-shape, getting into shape little woman there, and it was almost hilarious when I would move the pins on the machines from the bottom of the pile, back to the top weight that I could barely handle!
I did not mind being the center of attention (for them, it was either looking at me or the TV) because I got very good results but I did not go back there after my vacation.
If you want to get in great shape in a few weeks, for a vacation or a movie…an athletic club is your best choice.
Now, if you just want to exercise a little to lose some weight and be more active…an athletic club is not what you need.
But enough about me…
Now, to promote your gym: target your customers.
Are they bodybuilders…are they women only…are they everybody (I doubt it with a small gym)?
A small gym should concentrate on a specific need. Like mothers of young children, so you have to include child care. Those mothers get a break on taking care of their little kid(s) for an hour and then take care of themselves. Also women in general do not like to be looked at by men while moving their booty, especially if they think they’re too big or just sweating and puffing…not very womanlike.
You could have a “private contractor” licensed masseuse on the premises, working on her own, just using your facility and being a big draw for your customers. No paperwork or taxes for you and one more thing to draw customers in.
I don’t think “low prices” are good to entice customers. It just draws attention to the future higher prices.
Just make it free, like a free month (without mentioning any money, like those dreadful that much $ value) so they have time to appreciate your “good quality equipment” and if you’re doing a good job, they’ll want to keep coming back after a month but then they’ll have to pay. People starting an exercise program need at least a month to see some results and get less soreness…that’s when they get hooked.
Right now is the best time to advertise in the line of “beat the New-Year Resolution crowd”.
Maybe do a “women only” gym between 9am and 3pm (when older kids are in school and the husbands are at work), so guys could have a reduced price for early morning or after 3pm, which fit them perfect since they’re supposed to be working during the day to pay all the bills while their wives are stuck with the kids…am I right?
First month FREE, give us a chance to check us out and our good quality equipment.
9am to 3pm…women only. Childcare is FREE.
Before 9am and after 3pm, men are welcome with still the first month FREE and 25% off after that (which is logical since they cannot go for 6 hours during the day).
Independent masseuse will be available by appointment.
Beat the New-Year Resolution crowd and act NOW.
(If you have any openings in your ad agency, let me know, I’m looking for a job and I don’t mind giving you credit for my ideas, as long as I would get paid for them. I have tons of ideas about everything, I'm a walking gold mine. I just need some help to make my gold $…)

The gym could perhaps use a bit more persuading, first of all, you need customers to pay attention to your advertisement, make them interested in you. Posters with big visuals and test is a good start, anything eye catching. You can go to your nearest populated area and hand out these posters. You can possibly even subject your self into a persuading conversation, but it's unlikely they'll be tempted.
Elaborate other things about the gym, does it has music? TV? Nearby shops? lounge room? etc.
Your better off searching for people close to the area, I wouldn't go to a gym that involves more than 20 minute traveling.
Good Luck.

offer a package just for women where they can come in to get a quick 30 minute workout for a low price. offer two weeks with a trainer for free when u buy a package. i know these r a few things i look for when joining a gym and around here those r two qualities that r hard to come by! also make a website and advertise it in signs around town and if u can afford it shoot for a billboard!

designed and customised programmes for what they need
e.g. OAPs can only do certain excercises
body builders want to build up their body quick but need help doing so
people who do certain sports would want to train up certain muscles
provide health advice and set diets for people
advertise the equipment you have
north bransholme is a pretty quiet place so it may be difficult to get people's attention. In which case, advertise in places where people would find such information interesting e.g. health equipment/diet supplements shops, newspapers in other suburbs, sign posts to your establishment from the main road (provided you have asked for planning permission).
You may want to let people know of you address with your postcode.
Let people know you have parking spaces and the sort of rooms you have
Give them a googled map in your ads. if not, at least try to make you location clearer by where you are in relation to another local well known establishment
Look professional by correctly rennovating your interior and wearing poloshirt uniforms, have official membership cards (if you can afford it, but that's later stuff).
tell them that you have professional experts who would be able to help people throughout their programmes
Have ready, good information on local healthy cafes or spas in the local area in case they want to go somewhere afterwards (although it would be a good idea if you provided these services yourself, but it's expensive and time consuming stuff that you would only be able to do if you earn enough money to finance it yourself).
Hope this helps

1. Hand out as many leaflets you can to people in the street, college, Universities.
2. Create a soocial network / hub using Facebook, Bebo and get contacts.
3. Use online classifieds free or paid to advertise to people who are online.
4. Make some t-shirts and put your logo on them.

you'll be hungrier but that's because your body needs energy and nutrients after doing work, so there really isn't much net gain. however, if you lift weights, you will increase in muscle mass and get heavier in a healthy way. so yeah, go to the gym and maybe talk to a trainer so they can give you exercises to do to reach your goals.

If you have a website, maybe you could advertise your site on a related bodybuilding/fitness website, if you allow them to advertise on your site as well - Link exchange.
