How would you treat your cat's aural hematoma?

Our youngest cat shakes her ears a lot. She does not have ear mites. She did develop an aural hematoma, a collection of blood in the membrane of her right ear that looked like a huge blister. The cat did not seem to be in pain. However, I was afraid that it would rupture and she would spill blood and fluid in our house.

Our vet performed surgery, which evidently was successful but I believe that our cat was traumatized by the experience. Since then, I have read that there are other ways of dealing with an aural hematoma, including doing nothing! Given the fact that our cat still likes to shake her ears, I would not be surprised if she gave herself another hematoma. If you know about this kind of problem, what would you recommend?

one of our cats had the same thing. The vet recommended waiting it out and we did and the thing went away on its own. He said if it got bigger we would have to do surgery.

The cat didn't seem to be bothered by it and it dissolved on its own

    never to return
