Good books on Victorian Society and the English Civil War?

I'm particularly interested in reading more historical interpretations of society for upper classes (maybe oppression of women, etc?).

    The novels of Emma Marshall might help. Certainly, they were written in Victoria's reign and from a woman's viewpoint.
