ZYPREXA (SON SUDDENLY STOPPED IT FOR 4 DAYS) HELP?

Hi, My son 24, schizophrenic has been on zyprexa for about 4 1/2 weeks 20 mgs. He is just starting the paperwork for a psychiatrist and that takes time, to go to a mental health clinic. and his MD is trying. she is on VACATION. OMG< last night he was off the wall so bad and scratching the walls from wall to wall, pouring water on top of his head, throwing water in the glass all over the walls. I told him take this now, and gave him his kolonopin and he held it in his mouth and finally got a drink of water and spit the water forcefully out of his mouth. so the pill dissolved and he had to get to the sink be4 he swallowed it spit it all over the sink like spitting the water and pill out. What happens usually when someone stops a psychotropic drug for schizophrenic disease for a few days just starting treating and he was severe mentally ill w/no treatment for years. He was so much better on the med, but he gained weight so fast, that bothers him and I don't know what to do.

He called this morning and said sorry and he said he smoked a little pot last night and he thinks it made him go out there....but, I think he has been not swallowing the pills for about 4 days now.

What is the best thing to do? I already called Crisis and Counseling last night when he wastotallyy in a bad manic state and they breathed hard and said what do u want me to do? I said what yourprotocoll is!!!!, she said he has his rights, and he don't have to take the meds and sorry bye.

I said I will be over to give u the meds and he said I took my kololnopin this morning and I am not supposed to take the Zyprexa until tonight. I don't think he really took his med this morning, and I don't think he will be willing tonight for the other med.

What do I do,

This has been so crippling for me the last 6 weeks and I have gotten physically sick so bad and I don't have high blood pressure and a few weeks ago when all this was coming to a boiling point my bp was 140/116, I feel like my head is going to burst, I can't take this again all over again

I need help fast....

Hi sweetheart. The first thing you need to do is calm down. Take deep breaths. He is 24 and you are putting yourself in a bad situation right now. He needs to be in the hospital right now. It isn't that he will not take medication it is the way he is not taking the medication. He is not in control. You should call the crisis people back and say he is being dangerous to himself and you are afraid to go over there. They will come and get him and put him in the hospital. He seems too much across the line to me. I have been on both of those medications and the zyprexa is awful, perhaps geodon would be better, but klonopin makes agitation better and he doesn't even want his agitation to go away. Call honey, don't go back over there until he becomes stabilized.

I was on Zyprexa for 9 months in 2008, it is a horrible drug, it made me fat, tired and very depressed, I even tried to commit suicide,

They gave me the orodispersible tablets in hospital so I could not spit them out.

He needs to take a medication he is happy with, I have been taking Chlorpromazine and Prochlorperazine for over a year which I am happy with, it works well and has no side effects.

You have to make him take his medicine, the longer he goes without it, the longer it will take for it to start working again. Crush it and put it in his food if you have to. Or maybe make a compromise like I will do something for you if you take this medicine. Just make him take it, if he goes too long he's going to end up in the hospital from a breakdown. Or if you can get him to calm down somehow, coax him into taking it. I know you can do it, I've done it with someone who thought I was trying to poison her and got her to take it. Also, do you know someone that could pretend they are a nurse or something? Sometimes people will listen better if they think it's a nurse or doctor, so they feel they have to do it.

Who are these total prudes who think sex during your period is gross? That's why God made showers, Ladies! Anyway, if your "period" started a few days early, it is possible that it wasn't your period at all, but rather implantation bleeding, where you got pregnant when you ovulated. Implantation bleeding occurs 6 to 12 days after conception, so if it happened 12 days after for you, that would only be 2 days before your period was supposed to start. Just a thought. Especially if it was really light, like spotting. Good luck!
