He has and the only ones to respond as usual are us Brits.Hooray for us!

The French will do the usual thing and promise more troops and then back out(again)

I think the mindset of other nations(not the UK) is that the US has the most powerful military in the world so why can't they do it?A lot of Europe has the attitude of putting their fingers in their ears and then hoping that someone else will deal with it(the US and UK)I know there are many nations that have soldiers in Afghanistan but many of them are in a non-combat role.

I don't agree with their argument but that's Europe for you.

    Well..except he has...

"The US has asked France to send an additional 1,500 troops to join the coalition forces in Afghanistan as Washington is expected to send at least 30,000 more reinforcements.

On Monday, The daily Le Monde published a report on its website, saying US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made the request on Thursday in a telephone call to French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.

On Monday, Britain confirmed plans to send 500 more soldiers to Afghanistan in early December with its total contribution to the Afghan war amounting to 10,000 given the presence of special forces involved in training and civilian activities.

The US and Britain have been urging other NATO member states to help shoulder the burden of the war in Afghanistan, which remains engulfed in the flames of militancy despite more than eight years of foreign military presence. "

Dude! I totally agree with you. He gets in office and all of a sudden wants to act like a Republican and make lousy decisions that costs way too much money. I swear, everyone got it after the last failed administration that inspired high school drop-outs to think that they could one day be president. You would think that our President might get a clue. I'm going to listen closely to how he tries to sell a troop surge. Probably like Bush, "I listen to my generals in the field and not the people." While the whole time those generals work for us, our military is not its own entity. Lets see what happens . . .

well, President Bush tried to, but they wouldn't, so Bush said the U.S. would act independently, which he did. Obama is well aware of this.
