Well, the only .35's that have done well in the U.S. are the .35 Rem. and the .35 Whelen, so I assume you mean one of those two. The .35 Rem. is less versatile than the Whelen, but it will surely suffice for short range elk hunting, as in 100 yards or less. Beyond that, energy levels for elk suffer as well as tremendous bullet drop after about 150 yards. The .35 Whelen is the bigger brother of the wonderful .30-06 cartridge. The Whelen is an excellent medium bore cartridge, and is absolutely suitable for elk. Bullet weights are usually offered in 200-250 grain, and is good elk medicine. I actually read an article a few years ago on what cartridges were some of the most efficient, and guess what? The .35 Whelen came out on top of many other cartridges. This basically means that the .35 Whelen can do a lot for what it offers. So, both will work, but the Whelen might be a better elk killer after all is said and done.

    35 Remington For Elk

Yes, for .35 Remington, absolutely with the .35 Whelen as it is a .30-06 necked out to .35 caliber.

    The only .35 you shouldn't use is the S & W .35 auto, which is basically a .32 ACP
