flea repellent for a human to use?

It's a dog, and it's been treated with the advantage, or whatever the dog one is, had multiple flea baths, worn a collar, had dawn used on it....name it they've tried. It's one of three animals they have, and it's the only one the fleas are still bothering. the advantage worked on the other 2. They vacuum daily, and have washed everything multiple times.

Update:

I work in another person's home, and one of their animals has fleas. Is there any natural thing I could use to keep the fleas off of me for 6hrs (not opposed to re-applying) so I don't bring them home to my cats?

Update 2:

I'm aware of anemia that can be caused by garlic and onions in cats. It's still recommended on many web-sites :(

Not really. And I wouldn't want to run the risk of bringing them home to your own pets. Why don't you just ask them to get their cats on Advantage?

The easiest way to repel fleas is to eat foods containing garlic. Garlic bread, or any Italian dish heavy on the garlic. Fleas can't stand the smell of it. That will keep them off your skin. For your clothes, you'll want to go to a good quality pet store and get some good flea repellent. I can't recommend a specific brand, maybe call your vet for a recommendation. Just spray it on your pants legs, that should do it. I would also begin using Frontline Plus on your cats, just in case. That way, if any fleas do hitch a ride home, a soon as they jump on one of your cats, they'll be killed. You can prevent a full-blown infestation. If, for some reason, you're opposed to this, you can mix a little garlic powder (not garlic salt) into their canned food. It works the same way for cats that it does for people. I've never had a cat refuse it, either. They don't seem to mind it a bit. It won't kill fleas, but they won't hang around on their intended victim.

You should bring it to the pet-owner's attention, if possible, that their animals need some Frontline Plus or something. I can't imagine someone just allowing a pet to suffer!

Make your self smell like lavender because fleas hate lavender. Or use nit repellent as fleas and nits are nearly the same thing.

My cats had fleas and they didn't touch me when I smelt of lavender! You could also use bug repellent, or eat garlicky foods like, garlic bread.

Frontline plus works on my cats so in case and hitch a ride use that. But Lavender is much better than garlic, and it may also kill them.

Come your animals with a nit comb, and when you've caught some little beasts, pop them in some Lavender water to kill them.

Just make sure your cat doesn't eat the garlic 'cos...

You don't want to know. (shiver)

You could look into the original Avon's Skin So Soft as that has a reputation as a flea and mosquito repellent.

I have not tried it myself.

A study by the US Department of Agriculture compared four synthetic mosquito repellents and eight natural mosquito repellents and found that Repel Lemon Eucalyptus was the most effective repellent, more so than a 7% DEET repellent.

For you cats a sworn-by natural solution is Goodwindall Shampoo.

I also found a lovely natural spray for cats that contains spices fleas do not like, and it actually kills fleas also. Plus, it smells great! It is called Sentry Natural Defense Spray.

In response to the 3rd responder. DO NOT put garlic powder in your cats food. ANYTHING with garlic or onions can make them sick
