Did I make a mistake when rehoming one of my kittens?
I had originally planned on letting them go in pairs, so that they can turn to each other for comfort.....I let a little male go by himself because the person said their room mate had a cat (already fixed and what not), but now his brother seems so lonely - he still has two sisters, but he was close to his brother......I feel really bad....I didn't even ask for a rehoming fee for any of the kittens because they don't have shots or anything, so I didn't think it would be right, but now I don't know......I know I can't change what I did, but I'd like to know if you think I made a mistake letting him go alone.....? I'm sure he'll be loved, I just can't help but wish I had asked them to take his brother, too.... :(
I'm only 15 I can't do a home visit......and my dad yelled at me when I even so much as second guessed what I was doing when someone else wanted to have just one of the females...I decided I wouldn't let her go alone, anyway....my dad just wants the kittens GONE!! I want them to go to good homes.....
I did not advertise "Free to good homes"! I even waited until after the holidays because I know that "gifts" often wind up in the humane society!

Do you have their number or email? When i re-homed my ferret a few months ago i asked them if it was ok if i emailed them once in awhile to see how she is doing, i was worried about her also, and they send me pictures and i know i did the right thing and she is happy. Though i still worry about her and miss her terribly.. i think that's only natural :)

I think you made a huge mistake, but not because one cat got left behind. Please tell me you didn't advertise "free to good home". And I have this horrible feeling you handed the kittens off to strangers. Did you get a vet reference and/or do a home visit? Do you have valid contact info to see how the kittens are doing? Did you ask that the kitten be returned to you at any time if there were problems?
I'm guessing not. So yeah, this was extremely careless. You say you're sure he'll be loved, but truthfully you have no clue what will happen to him.

No worries... its a part of kitten's lives... growing up and moving on from his/her siblings... He will be excited and happy in his new home and won't notice that his sibling isn't there....he will be fine. :)

You did fine. He has his sisters and you! He will adjust and get used to his brother being gone and will be just fine.
