Why do people think Earthquakes and other natural disastors are new and a punishment from God?

I am not sure why the world wants to blame it on God as if he is punishing folks. Understand Jesus told us the sign of his presence...meaning very soon God's Kingdom will be upon the earth. Jesus told his disciples: There would be pestilences, food shortages, earth quakes, death, wars and reports of wars but the end is not yet. Satan is the God of this system of things ...he is angry because he has a short period of time. That is why the conditions of this world is going to get worst before the end comes...but people are going to have to stop placing blame on God...Satan rejoices with that deception. God is of the living...not of the dead. Satan rejoices in death of the innocent. Catastrophes involving innocent ones in wars/natural disasters and such. The bible lets us know Satan does have control over the elements...read this account of Job and his sons and daughters were killed.

Job 1:12 Accordingly Jehovah said to Satan: “Look! Everything that he has is in your hand. Only against him himself do not thrust out your hand!” So Satan went out away from the person of Jehovah. 13 Now it came to be the day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother the firstborn.

Where I am, there are NO earthquakes, because I never step on cracks in the pavement, because if I ever do, then big earthquake. Yer and that makes about as much sense as any deranged fundie saying it is the will of God.

There are people who believe that it never rained until some god flooded the entire planet. These same people also believe that rainbows didn't exist until after this flood. Seriously, if you can get people to believe that crap, is it really that much weirder that they believe their god shifts tectonic plates when he gets his panties in a wad?

Because little children, or or people with childlike minds, naturally think that anything that hurts them is punishment for some secret bad thing they did. Guilt.

Because of their ridiculous religious beliefs. Consider the people that killed animalsnso that they could offer up animal blood to god to stone for their sins.
