Frontline Plus vs. Advantage?

I'm putting Frontline Plus on my three cats for fleas, but I'm wondering if Advantage is better. I notice that it's more expensive so it makes me wonder if it's better. Has anybody used both on your cat and had better results with one over the other? Thank you.

Update:

Btw, my cats are indoor cats only. We got the fleas when I kept my daughter's cat for her while she was moving & vacationing. Her cat had fleas and brought them into my home.

Frontline treats for both fleas and ticks. The ticks will take up to 3 days to die, giving them enough time to cement their heads into the animal. Which can still transmit Lyme or other tick borne diseases.

Advantage on the other hand only treats fleas. It does not go into the bloodstream to work. It goes through the skin into the fatty layer directly below the skin surface and travels throughout the body that way. It then deposits in the hair follicles and travels up the hair shafts. All a flea has to do is come into contact with the hair to be killed.

As for Revolution, I never recommend Revolution to anyone. My cat had a serious reaction to revolution and had I treated her once more, she could have died. Revolution treats for more things than fleas. It treats for roundworms (an intestinal parasite), earmites, mange and heartworms. In order to treat all these parasites Revolution must enter the bloodstream. I would never put pesticides into my pet's bloodstream - especially if my pet doesn't have those parasites. That's like fogging your house for mosquitoes in the middle of winter and breathing the fog in.

Because I worked at an emergency animal hospital, we saw all the things that regular vets didn't. There were quite a few animals that had reactions to Revolution.

Advantage is the only product I use on my pets.

We tried Advantage, Frontline and Revolution on ours over the years. The two things I noticed was that Advantage never stung the cat's necks (the other two did bother them), and Advantage worked a good 6 weeks on the outdoor cats instead of the 4 weeks it listed. The other two only kept fleas away for 4 weeks.

Frontline kills and prevents fleas and ticks. It is also available over the counter (no prescription needed). It costs a few more dollars than Advantage. Advantage kills and prevents fleas only. It is by prescription only (would have to have had pet to Vet's office for an exam within 1 year). A few dollars cheaper than Frontline. I'd recommend Advantage for a cat if it doesn't go outdoors. Frontline if it does. For dogs, I'd recommend Advantix, it kills and prevents fleas, ticks and mosquito's. So it will also help prevent heart worm disease which is transmitted by infected mosquitoes. Dogs should also be on monthly heart worm preventive like Heartgard or Interceptor.

I haven't used either as my cats always stay indoors and we have never had any flea problems. Frontline plus is sold as a multi-purpose medication while Advantage is for fleas only and will probably do a better job. Just be very careful with any of those products as they can be dangerous if not used according to directions.

Go with advantage. It's better. Truthfully though, Revolution is the best. It really really works. I've tried almost every product out there and Revolution is the most effective. Good luck

    frontline plus.

my vet stopped selling advantage because it did bad things, and it burnt my cats skin.

or maybe revolution was what they stopped selling, but i think advantage burnt her skin.
