Backup Restore of Windows XP?
I recently had to reinstall Windows 32-bit XP Professional because I was having major issues with my PC. I backed up all of my files by using Windows backup utility. I saved it on my external hard drive. When I finished my install of Windows, I tried to restore my back up file. The backup utility came up and i went through the restore wizard. It asked me to select the main file and expand the tree. Well it won't let me and it stays shaded out not giving me the ability to restore. What am i doing wrong!!!!! Please help!

i dont trust programs for my backups, do it manually, put them on a seperate partition in the first place which leaves you able to nuke your sys at will.

Why did you reinstall Windows XP? A virus? In that case you do NOT want to over-write everything. All that will do is re-install the virus on your system.
Do a selective restore of the items in your "My Documents" folder and work through there.
