Why do some people go on a mission to spread lies, prejudice and stigma about disabilities?
Why do some people go around intentionally spreading lies, prejudice and stigma about specific disabilities, disorders or medical conditions? Why do they intentionally mislead people and spread insulting lies about people with certain conditions? What motivates them to seek out every opportunity to work against those who already have more than enough ignorance and prejudice to deal with, on top of the actual disability? What can they possibly be getting out of this? Do they understand or even care about what consequences this has for people who are already suffering enough?
I know that sometimes when people have a bad experience with one individual who has a particular disability/condition, they assume that everyone else with the same disability/condition will be the same, but would bad experience with one or two individuals really be enough to send people on a mission to spread hate and lies about the entire group of people who happen to have the same disability?
This seems to be beyond normal ignorance. This seems more like intentional and determined sabotage, aimed at encouraging ostracization of innocent people with certain disabilities/conditions.
Have you noticed this too? What can be done to stop this?

To be honest, I think the people who engage in such behavior are suffering from some sort of disorder themselves... but they'll probably never be diagnosed due to their prejudices. Some people are just nasty by nature... others are probably like that because they were conditioned to be that way by their parents and/or peers.
No, I don't think they understand or care about the consequences of their behavior - this is what leads me to believe they are probably mentally ill themselves. (Sociopaths, for example, couldn't care less what harm their actions cause.)
I wish I knew the answer to what can be done to stop this, but short of treating it as hate speech or a hate crime, there really isn't much that can be done. I'm sure ECT (shock treatment) or a lobotomy would stop them... but I doubt anyone would be allowed to enforce such a harsh punishment on these sick individuals.

Prejudice is very often based on fear ignorance. In a sense, they're also bullying you and I think that's a terrible thing. I believe that these ignorant people like to have a superiority complex, where they feel better about themselves by spreading lies or nasty rumours about people with specific conditions. In fact, they may exaggerate and repeat the lies so much that they actually believe what they're saying!!!
There's a proverb which is "A lie repeated 1000 times becomes the truth."
This is bullying, which is unacceptable but unfortunately rife in many workplaces. These people need to grow up and be more mature. They are wasting their time and not focusing on things that are more important in life. You haven't done anything wrong, and it's their fault for being shallow and prejudiced.

Everything you just said sounds EXACTLY like the same ppl who make it their mission to attack/argue with believers of God and ppl who are racist against a certain race...These ppl are ALL the same...Both take out time to sit their a$$es on their comps just to make a argument, make a rumor or bully the ppl their against or hate...Even the same in real life as well...Just like you said they do this intentionally and never have a great motive as to WHY! It's sad because these ppl obvious want to spread more hate in the world and obviously want to CRASH ppl down...What type of human being would willingly want to cause someone to go into depression! Well i personally believe their evil pure pure EVIL almost like the devil himself...On a mission to spread hate, violence, prejudice and take away peace because their hearts are corrupted >=(

Sounds like everyday at the grist mill to me. Even when I had legs I had to put up with attitudes and racism. For a long time admitting to have gone to Nam would get you excluded fast. Everyone has to put up with the law of the jungle. You aren't alone. Yes the world is filled with smart and stupid people.
Avoid stupidity. An angry reaction isn't rising above.
I'm mad at a whole airline both domestic and international over what I consider an insult and discrimination to wheel chair passengers. But I will address that to them. Calmly.
Keep your hands up.

there will always be some people in society who will have a fu**ed up mentality and pick on people with disabilities because they are different, or viewed as weak. (so untrue.) Differently abled people are so strong, because not only are they excelling in making a positive difference in the world, they are also coping with a disability when doing so. My only suggestion to stopping this would be education of the people with the fu**ed up ideas about differently abled people. However, some people are so ignorant they will resist being educated. I'd suggest focusing on working with differently abled people and allies, to try to work to create positive change, the effort would be much better spent then working to change stubborn ignorant opinions.

People will continue doing that but nothing you can stop them.
Lot people can lies as much they want too but that included with Disabilities also.
It is very easy to lie about disabilities. We all know that.
Some people are very low life and don't care about them, remember Disabilities are included this too.
Believe me this will never end.
Even people do that to non-disabilities too, what the different does it make?

In an institutional setting you ignore those sort of people. It's the only way to make them behave.
