Jehovah's Witnesses: Why can't computer witnessing count as "going into all the world?"?

PLEASE don't get me wrong. I love JW's... My in-laws are JW's. A forum like this allows us to challenge (maybe poke a little fun) at each other because we ARE passionate about the things that we believe in.

I know that the door to door work is very important too you as proof of your commitment to the great commission. I have done door to door work for a church I attended in the past. I don't do it now because they think I'm a JW. LOL. It would seem you folks have "cornered the market" on door to door work.

But none of my R/S Q/A are private. To my detriment, critics of my Q/A have deleted resolved Q/A after being finalized; even one being a BA.

Why can't my non-private Q/A (over 500 plus now) count as doing my part to fulfill the Great Commission? I've talked/witness too: Muslims,(one overseas in Saudi) LDS, Catholics, atheists, evolutionists, and God-haters of all types.

Why can't my computer work count the same as your door to door work? I'm not imposing myself on anyone.(It's up to them to read what I've written if they want). Just using my freedom of speech. Do you think God will give me credit for it, even if your organization won't?

PS I didn't ask whether your accounts are private or not. How does your accounts count if no one can read them?

Update:

Hi Peacelil: Thank for being one of my faithful contacts. My deleted Q/A on JW topics is maybe 75%. The others were mostly Muslims topics LOL...Muslims REALLY hate the idea that Allah has its' roots back to the moon god that was worshipped in Mecca. BUT.. you know the normal response to such accusations: ANYONE could have done it. And it is considered pure coincidence if it happened to be on the topic of the WT. My main point in asking this question is: Many JW posters say "we are the only ones bringing the good news of the Kingdom, and if you were as zealous as us; you would be out knocking on doors too." (This is the TOKEN that we are the one and only TRUTH. But is never seemed to occur to them that by reading our posts; we are witnessing just the same, but by different means.

Update 2:

une fleur: Thanks for your kind words.

Saraphina Blue: Thanks for your post. In the desire to be a book "known and read of all men;"(2Cor. 3:2);deleted Q/A is the risk we all take. I don't blame you for going private. For whatever it's worth: Someone went back into my file and voted on an unresolved question that was a year old. It just happened to be my answer, and it gave me the BA. LOL and WHOA!

Update 3:

Mindy: Thanks for your post and testimony. So far from what I've seen it's okay to count computer witnessing as "field service." As you said: "Who said it can't." But both you and Tears of Oberon are concerned that it must be the "right message." Jesus didn't come to announce that "Jehovah's universal sovereignty toward his creatures" per se. Everyone knew that God is sovereign; even the Pharisees knew that, and so did the devils. (James 2:19) The question must be asked: What is the message of Christ? Everyone knew there was a God and he has a Kingdom. Christ came to teach us HOW to enter that Kingdom. The Pharisees had their methods: Keep the law; do the rituals; ceremonies; keep the traditions of the elders; and if your "good works" measure up; you will be worthy of the Kingdom of God.

Update 4:

Christ came teaching and preaching "the gospel of the Kingdom." What is the gospel? It means "good news." It's the good news that Christ has come to set us free from the bondage of sin and death. (Romans 8:2) I believe we can be so caught up in the pursuit of the Kingdom, that we forget what the qualifications are to enter that Kingdom. In demonstration of the "gospel of the Kingdom" (Mark 1:14) Jesus healed the sick, (Mark 1:34) casted out devils,(Mark 1:25-26) and gave salvation to the soul.(Matt. 9:2) Since you "study the Bible intensely" (I appreciate that) Can you find the scripture for me that says: "The authority to forgive sins,(Matt. 9:1-8) rests in Jehovah God alone?" Can you be forgiven of your sins by going straight to Jehovah? Can you pray straight to Jesus for that forgiveness under WT theology?

Update 5:

After all, it was Jesus that told the Jews and the Pharisees (just to be a Pharisees you had to memorized all the books of Moses) "...if you believe not that I am He, you shall die in your sins." John 8:24. You see the point I'm making here?

We can argue all day (not my intent) of who has the message of Christ. If I'm right, am I not fulfilling the great commission the same as you believe you are? Even if I'm not knocking on doors?

In your intense study of the Bible, look for passages that confirm or deny that the authority to forgive sins was ever given to anyone with the DNA of angels: or did Jehovah give it to someone his equal? See Phil. 2:6.

Update 6:

HI Angilmus: I thought you might return and change that verse from: "I" have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge." - Romans 10:2. To: "They" have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge." But that shows how much fun we can have in comparing our points of view. LOL!

Em leah: Thanks for your post. If it's true that: "Jehovah didn't give us the Internet for his preaching work." (:

Then I haven't found a book, chapter, or verse that says we can't. LOL!

Update 7:

une fleur: Thanks for your comeback. Jesus was in total submission to his Father's will as he walked the earth. Then, God exalted him to the position of having a name above every name. (for the purpose of salvation, may I say; even above Jehovah? (see Psalms 138:2) And my point is, only Jesus can forgive you of your sins. That means praying directly too him, receiving him into your heart, and if Christ is not "IN" you; you are none of his. (Romans 8:9) And while we can debate forever the: Trinity, deity of Christ; divinity of Christ; was Jesus Almighty (Rev.1:8 says he is) If Jesus and his Father are one in the same. Are they equal? (Phil. 2:6 says they are). My point is: the forgiveness of sins; which we will need to see (John 3:3) the Kingdom, is in Christ alone. And isn't that our hope? "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ "in you," the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:28.) Is this the correct message?

I am not a Jehovah's Witness but I believe that JW's as well as any religious faith who are trying to help someone spiritually should (if they want or need too) be able to count it ( computer teaching/preaching ) as time.

This would also be good effort to to teach and preach for those who are disabled, ill, and for whatever reason someone cannot go out door to door. I don't think it is a cop-out to going door to door.

Think of it as a door that God opened so that people who would not normally be able to do something, in this case preach/teach can. Anyone who wants to learn is also able too anywhere in the world.

Sadly it may be for some in countries where religion is forbidden or only allowed in the form of a particular type of faith- the only way they can learn of any other religion's or even that other religions exist as well as what they are.

I have to keep my account private due to the fact that there are so many report monkeys here.

On Y!A you are free to report anything and it seems everything even if it does not go against any guidelines.

I have had reports on my account from 2 years ago that were resolved. So I closed my account to private.

No one seems to care or respect that everyone has an opinion and those do count and deserves to be heard even if you don't like it. Most of us are lucky enough ( do to our armed forces keeping us safe ) to live in free countries but if 2 people or 1 with more than one account is offended you are reported and your question and/or answer is removed without actually being a violation.

Who says that it doesn't count?

I think that this can be a valuable tool for sharing the good news of the kingdom.

YA, however, isn't exactly visited by everyone. Not even everyone who has the internet visits YA. Most of the people I know do not use YA in any capacity and I have relatively tech savvy friends.

The vast majority of the people on the planet do not use YA and must be reached with the good news. The most effective way of doing this is door to door work.

Just because we're called Jehovah's Witnesses that doesn't mean that we're not Christians. We are Christians. We believe in Jesus and we read the Bible.

To make a comment for one answer -

We talk about paradise because that is what the Bible opens up with - Genesis chapter 2, And that is what it ends up with - Revelation chapter 21.

And of course Jesus died to buy back the paradise that Adam lost for all mankind. He paid the price as our ransom.

That is why he said in the Lord's prayer - Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth..."

Also in Matthew :5:5 - "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."

What ever "credit" you have is between you and Jehovah God. If you understand his requirememts, and desire to spread the truth from the Bible, particularly the truth about the rulership of God's kingdom (as mentioned in Matthew 24:14) you will find favor.

Having zeal is not sufficient. The message offered to all as GOOD NEWS has to be concerning the Kingdom of God, and all that it entails - who the ruler is, why he was selected, what that kingdom will do for mankind, what it will do for the earth, how many make up that kingdom government, who will it rule, for how long, and who is brought glory by means of this new government.

"They have a zeal for God, but not according to accurate knowledge." - Romans 10:2.

Zeal alone does not bring God's blessing. Accurate knowledge gives everlasting life - John 17:3.

    I'm not sure it isn't. :)

As Adam's Rib said, some count their time here, some don't. It's strictly up to the individual witness. What I do know is that Jehovah's Witnesses have used all new methods available to get the "message" out. They had the first radio network broadcast, though it wasn't called such; they had a radio station; were always ahead of the curve in printing methods; even the first if not one of the first movies which was shown in theatres across the country.

The important thing is to tells others about Jehovah's Kingdom with a clean conscience. :)

"Jehovah's Witnesses: Why can't computer witnessing count as "going into all the world?"

Who said it can't? It most certainly can. As long as the witnessing is centered on the truth of GOD'S HEAVENLY KINGDOM as found and taught in the Bible.

Many professed so called religions of Christendom (false Christianity) don't even know WHAT God's Kingdom actually is... so how can they bear witness to it?

~Edit~: Most religions do teach that a person should not lie or steal, and so on and so forth. But is that sufficient?

Would YOU be happy to drink a glass of poisoned water because someone assured you that MOST of what you were getting was water?!

2 Corinthians 11:14, 15 says: “Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness.”

2 Corinthians 11:14, 15 cautions that not everything that originates with Satan may appear hideous. One of his chief methods of deceiving mankind has been false religion of all kinds, to some of which he gives a righteous appearance (such is the case with Christendom).

2 Timothy 3:2, 5 says: “Men will be . . . having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these TURN AWAY.”

So regardless of their outward professions of love for God, if those with whom YOU worship do not sincerely apply his Word in their own lives, the Bible urges you to break off such association.

The Bible shows and teaches that the Kingdom of God is the expression of Jehovah’s universal sovereignty toward his creatures, or the means used by him to express that sovereignty. This term is used particularly to designate the manifestation of God’s sovereignty through the royal government headed by his Son, Jesus Christ. “Kingdom” may refer to the rulership of the one anointed as King or to the earthly realm ruled by that heavenly government.

If ANY professed "Christian" is proclaiming the message of God's Kingdom BUT the message doesn't add up to what was just stated regarding what God's Kingdom is... I politely tell them to keep it moving OR they can listen to the real message of the Kingdom.

It was because of Jehovah's Witnesses use of "computer witnessing" that I was able to be reached with the message of salvation.

    Ciao

We JW preach where ever people are and that includes this site that goes out to many parts of the earth. As for a non-witness they can not preach as one of us and expect to do so without holy spirit. Why not except the truth if you want it heard before Armageddon. Maybe you should stop patronizing those who love the truth and look forward to life everlasting. Move on if you do not want to serve God whole souled.

General, I've had the same trouble with my Q/As being gone through and reported/deleted...some of them over six months after having been resolved!

I know that you don't focus all your energy on JW topics...in fact, I would say you spend a relatively low percentage of your YA time on JW topics. You say you've talked or witnessed to "Muslims,(one overseas in Saudi) LDS, Catholics, atheists, evolutionists, and God-haters of all types."

Before I can answer your question, I would like to request some additional information from you. What percentage of your reported and deleted Q/A dealt with JW topics?

****Edit: Okay, I understand the gist of your question now. And I would have to say “Me me me” answered well: “It doesn't matter how you do it. The important thing is preach God s' kingdom as the only solution to all the problems mankind are facing.” Thumbs up!

Luke 17:20-21: Now having been questioned by the Pharisees as to when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them and said, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed; nor will they say, 'Look, here it is!' or, 'There it is!' For behold, the kingdom of God is IN YOUR MIDST."

I agree that Jesus Christ is the only solution to all the problems faced by mankind. You can’t go wrong preaching that good news, no matter what venue you choose to use!

****Edit, again: Sorry...just thought of something I forgot to mention. In Eph. 2:2, Satan is referred to as the prince of the power of the air. I don't think it's a stretch to say that he is the chief commanding officer of our airwaves down here. When I witness online to the glory of my Heavenly Father and my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I see it as going into the enemy's camp and using his own machinery against him. Don't you know he just hates that! xxx

It doesn't matter how you do it.

The important thing is preach God s' kingdom as the only solution to all the problems mankind are facing.

Let suppose you are handicapped if you use this forum to answer valid bible questions about God 's kingdom as Jesus commanded in Matthew 24:14 it is not a problem.

I pray Jesus is your Lord and Savior. As a Christian, this does count as serving the Lord, and witnessing, because behind every keyboard is a person. The problem I have seen with JW's is they want to talk about paradise, but don't witness about the cross of Jesus, which is the only way of salvation ( John 14:6 and Romans 10:9-10 ). My question for all JW's is in Acts 16:30, and the answer is in verse 31. This is what they should be sharing door to door, because only souls won for Jesus will count, not hearing about paradise. Thank God for the internet, because we can reach people we could never reach without it.
