Which of these two sentences is grammatically correct?
I was in a fight with my grandma (haha, yeah, my grandmother, dainty little thing) about the structure of a sentence talking about Alaska being a state of the USA. If you said that, which of these two sentences would be correct?
1. The U.S. State of Alaska
2. The United State of Alaska
If neither is correct, what is correct?

I disagree.
Normally, in a sentence, an abbreviation is written, though the actual word is said.
So, the second would actually be correct, because the first sentence repeats itself.
The "United States" state of Alaska.
For instance, you may type etc. etc. etc...
However, you say the word.
And another question, how do you spell etc. fully?
I don't know, and spell check doesn't either.

It is #1. The U.S. state of Alaska.
It is not The United State of Alaska because there is no such entity. First, the reference is to the country the United States, so that should be spelled out.

Sentence 1 is the better of the two, though "the American state, Alaska" sounds more natural.

2. Because for number one, wouldnt you be saying 'The United State State of Alaska' ?

1. Is redundant, but not incorrect.
2. Only Alaska should be capitalized, because united state is not a proper noun (like United States is). Other than that, though, it is not incorrect either.

one is more correct. U.S. is a label, you can really have alaska as united states becuase there is only one. unless alaska is united together. i would rephrase is as The state of Alaska in the US

neither is real. the two one might could desire to be "Kevin knows greater approximately song than i recognize." or "Kevin knows greater approximately song than I do." or "Kevin knows greater approximately song than me." The final one isn't seen amazing in written language, yet may well be the main classic thank you to assert it in spoken (American) English.
