why do christians look down at jews when they should be looking up,historically?
having discovered that pontius, the romans, and those who beheaded his guru, john the baptist were solely responsible for christ being crucified, i am unable to understand why the jew were the only ones blamed till today? if it was for judas, since he was paid,he cannot be held guilty, leave alone his community.

KarlP, Messiah is a Jewish concept. Jesus knew this, he was Jewish. He also knew then, that he did not fulfill the messianic prophecies. When the Jews wouldn't listen to him, I guess he started preaching to pagans, who didn't know better.
The whole idea got hijacked.

The end of the first century saw a great gap widen between Christians and Jews. Some blame Christology, or percieved nature of Christ, advancing to the point of equality with God. This is most notable in the gospel of John, believed to have been written close to 100 AD. Jews began to balk because of the first commandment: "I, the Lord thy God am one God, thou shalt have no other gods before Me". Anathemas were pronounced and Christians expelled from synagogues. John also blamed the Jews for the crucifixion: "Jesus' blood be upon our heads and the heads of our children," John alleged that a crowd of Jews shouted. But what parent would ever say that? John even has Jesus calling the Jews "children of Satan," a statement most scholars characterize as inauthentic to a Jewish Jesus. Because the anonymous Greek Jews-turned-messianic that wrote the gospels in Greek were living under the jurisdiction of the Roman Empire, it was safer to blame the Jews for the crucifixion. Even though the right to execute people had been removed from the Jews at the time of Jesus' crucifixion, and Jews didn't crucify people--they stoned people.

No Christian looks down on Jews. That doesn't make sense nor is it taught in the Bible. God wants every person to come to repentence. The second greatest commandment is to love thy neighbor as thyself. The first great commandment is to love God with all your heart soul strength mind (Matt.22:37). Jesus was crucified because of sin, which we are all guilty of. Every one of us is guilty of His being crucified. His being crucified had to happen if anybody were to be saved.
John 4:22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

It was the Jewish leaders that called for the crucification of Jesus, not the Romans. It was Pontius Pilot that said "I see no guilt in this man"..... It was the Jews that kept crying out "crucify him, crucify him", it was the Jewish leaders and Jewish mob that ask for Barabbas, the murderer and thief, to be set free and condemned the innocent Christ to the hung on a cross.
After saying all that.....Jesus, God the Son freely offered himself up to die on a cross to accomplish the will of the Father who sent him. To die for our sins and restore a relationship with God the Father and mankind.
Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I think you need to re-read the Bible more carefully. It was the Jews who demanded the Romans crucify Christ. It was the Jews who had Jesus arrested in the first place.
Having said that I am a Christian and I do not hold modern day Jews responsible for the terrible, murderous mistakes of their ancestors. I would hate to be judged on the errors of my ancestors. It is hardly fair or rational.

The simple explanation may be because Jesus is a Jew and they were unable to digest the fact that their so called GOD is born in a different religion. If they accept this concept( that their GOD choose to be born as a Jew) it means they need to respect Judaism, which will mean that their religion is not the best but one of the best. Hence, they invented flimsy excuses to massacre Jews.

If you get money for killing someone , it's okay !!! Yeah your presence in the world should raise the admiration for the Jews to astral heights :()
But this is the real view of a Christian to the Jews :
St Ignatius of Loyola, Founder of the Jesuits :
When Ignatius was accused of having partly Jewish ancestry, he replied, "If only I did! What could be more glorious than to be of the same blood as the Apostles, the Blessed Virgin, and our Lord Himself?"

You are correct: the Jews had no part in the death of Jesus. Something like 250,000 Jews were crucified by the Romans - Jesus just happened to be one of them.
Here is a far more detailed post on the death of Jesus:

Christian attitudes towards Jews vary according to what they are taught about us. Those taught that our faith is valid, show us respect.
Those taught that Judaism is 'incomplete', because we do not and will not worship a mortal man (Jesus) are patronising towards us.
And those evangelical Christians who are taught that it's OK to *LIE* in order to convert Jews to Christianity, go round insisting they are "messianic jews" when in fact, they are *Gentiles* and have no right to apply the word 'jew' to themselves.
- They also pose as "messianic muslims", by the way.

As a Christian, I view the Jews as being God's chosen people. The gift of salvation was originally intended for them, and was extended to the rest of us later on.

Historically, Christians are in a sense, the Jews. Those who call themselves Jews today don't believe in the same Lord as Jews before Christ did, because Jesus Christ is the Lord. He's both the Son of God and God in the flesh. And there's no salvation outside of faith alone in Jesus Christ.
