The decision is yours to make, however take it from an ex JW that it is a very dangerous cult who brainwash their members and control them like sheep. They are even likened to sheep by the Society.

I woke up a few months back, and realised that everything I'd been taught since I was literally a baby was a lie. They have their own version of the Bible, which is modified to suit themselves.

They don't let you do your own research or check outside sources for the truth about their organization, (common sense and even God himself dictates we do this). If you get baptized and then decide to leave for whatever reason in the future, you will be classed as a disfewlloshipped or disassociated person, or at the very least a bad association and shunned and ignored. Even by your own family.

They are all brainwashed and programmed to think the way they do by the Society, publications, talks, and assemblies. They all claim to be happy people (which most of them aren't) and full of love, but only as long as you belong to them. Once you start thinking for yourself and questioning the teachings, you will be given the cold shoulder and dropped like a stone. I speak from experience. I am neither disassociated or disfellowshipped, I just decided to leave, however the JWs treat me like I have the plague. For what? They're all hypocrites.

Don't listen to those on here who are allegedly JWs. They are flatly told by their leaders not to come on religious discussion boards for fear of apostates. This I know well, I remember it at conventions and in publications. So if they really are genuine JWs, why are they here? This is, after all, a religious question/answer discussion board.

They will sneer at my and others answers, and call us liars. We're not liars, we're simply warning people about this hypocritical cult.

As I said its your decision, but I would stay away from them. They're not good people.

EDIT: Hi Joe, once again! Joe's kinda obsessed with me lately for some reason...lol. Don't worry, I am definately an ex JW which I can prove, just email me. Joe can't prove otherwise. He accuses me of never having been a JW, well the burden of proof lies with the accuser. Can he prove I was never a JW? No he can't. and he knows it.

I invite him to get in touch with me so I can prove to him that I used to be a Jehovah's Witness, formerly of Elm Grove congregation in Brighton, UK. My former COs have included Richard Cullen (well known in the UK) and Anthony Manning.

Now left the JWs and much happier!

EDIT; God, here we go again. I'm bored at work so what the hell. Lol.

"Uh oh, looks like Magpie continues her obsession with me."

Erm...I'm not the one quoting your name and abusing you every chance I get. Look up the term, "obsession".

"Regardless of her opinion, the burden of proof lies with the accused."

Ermm...what planet are you on? So by your logic, everyone accused of a crime has to prove they didn't do it? LMAO!!! So what do we have judges and juries for? You're a bit retarded if you seriously think that. Does the phrase "innocent until proven guilty" mean anything to you? Obviously not.

I just asked a question on here "Does the burden of proof lie with the accuser or the accused" and everyone so far has said its the accuser. You're full of s*** just admit it.

"Can she prove she was ever a JW? No she can't and she knows it. "

    That's where you're wrong, dear.

    "Spouting off a few people's names isn't proof. "

I highly doubt someone who was "never" a JW would know those details, plus I have many more. As I said, email me if you wish. But we both know you won't. Grow up.

This answer will be deleted I'm sure, by you and your multiple accounts...lol how sad and predictable.

EDIT: Really??? We're not in a court of law?? Thanks for bringing that to my attention! Let me explain it to you like you're a 3-year old. THE PRINCIPLES STILL APPLY. Get it now? If you're accusing me of something, you need to have the evidence to back it up? Understand? Most people do, however I'm not surprised that you don't.

As I said, go on to my recent question "Does the burden of proof lie with the accuser or the accused" and you will see the truth, also what people on here really think of you and your childlike mentality.

    I feel sorry for you.

EDIT: I never said we were in a court of law, however, as everyone else except you realises, the principles still apply in a situation where someone accuses someone else of something without proof. What part of that does your brain have trouble with?

EDIT: Joe, I don't know why you keep copying my responses and you can't think up your own ones, but I'm totally bored of you now and your other aliases, ("Kent" for one) so I'm not responding to you any more. Take care

I hope that you do not hope to resolve your question through yahoo.answers. It is good for many things but not for such controversial and important questions as your personal religion. Anyone here can say anything they want, and you don't know who they really are. I'm sure you know some people personally who are also deist, and you know the person that you are studying with. They can hide much less from you, and you can hold them accountable for lying to you. You may feel that this medium will yield you more objective answers, but it only yields answers that have hidden agendas.

Source(s): Who cares who I say I am. I could be lying.
  • Other people cannot answer a personal question that you yourself have to answer.

But while Jehovah's Witnesses believe in an intelligent Creator, we are not creationists, who take everything in the Bible literally regardless of context.

Continue studying with Jehovah's Witnesses if you want to learn why we accept both the Bible and science, and our reasons for doing so.

Continue studying with Jehovah's Witnesses if you want to learn the foundation of our beliefs, and see for yourself whether they are Biblical and logical.

Then you can make your own informed decision.

That's totally up to you what you want to be. Once you have gained accurate knowledge of God's Word, the Bible, then any decision you make is an honest one.

Romans 10:11-15: For the Scripture says: “None that rests his faith on him will be disappointed.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for there is the same Lord over all, who is rich to all those calling upon him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.” 14 However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? 15 How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? Just as it is written: “How comely are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!”

You say you are an "ex-christian turned deist." This tells me that at one time you were a "Christian" but for some reason you changed your mind about it. When I read the standard so-called "Christian" doctrine, such as what the poster David (above) writes, I cannot blame you for turning your back on such nonsense.

Who can believe such drivel? He says, "Believe in Jesus for His free gift of salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation." And he then posts a prayer one may pray that will supposedly gain one free entrance to heaven forever. Of course, if this were so, any axe murderer or rapist who muttered those words would be in heaven there with you too. In fact, Adolf Hitler himself professed belief in Jesus, claimed to be a "Christian" and said the following:

“The National Socialist State professes its allegiance to positive Christianity. It will be its honest endeavor to protect both the great Christian Confessions in their rights, to secure them from interference with their doctrines (Lehren), and in their duties to constitute a harmony with the views and the exigencies of the State of today.” –Adolf Hitler, on 26 June 1934.

Of course, the bible does not teach such nonsense as "once saved, always saved." On the contrary, you are told to "keep working out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:12; also see 2 Peter 2:20;2 Peter 2:1, 15; Colossians 1:23; 1 Corinthians 9:27)

I cannot blame you and many others from turning away from mainstream Christendom with their false teachings. I myself did the same thing years ago.

And I, like you, began studying with Jehovah's Witnesses. It didn't take long for me to see that what they were teaching had the "ring of truth." It just sounded right to me. It made sense. And everything they taught me was backed up with numerous biblical passages that proved that what they were saying had merit.

Eventually, after careful evaluation of everything they taught me, and prayerful consideration, I realized that serving Jehovah as one of his Witnesses is what I wanted to do.

I encourage you to continue in your studies and give them a fair chance. You seem to be a free thinking, open-minded individual. Perhaps you will find what you are seeking.

    May Jehovah bless your efforts!

** Please note that Magpie's claim to being an "ex-JW" is a complete lie. Like all members of her hate group cult, part of their tactics in spreading their hate against Jehovah's Witnesses is to make the lying claim that they were once a part of our Christian congregation. She was never in any kind of association with us. She's merely applying the tactics that her hate group cult leadership has brainwashed her into using.

Why would you ask this question to people on Yahoo? That kind of decision is yours and yours alone to make. When you ask this here, you'll be bombarded with comments from those who hate, slander, and lie against Jehovah's Witnesses and will give you false information to keep you away.

    - The real liars are the ones who post flat-out lies such as this: "They are flatly told by their leaders not to come on religious discussion boards for fear of apostates." These people are brainwashed and programmed to steer people away from Jehovah's people.......exactly the kind of work their god, Satan, wants them to be doing.

    - Uh oh, looks like Magpie continues her obsession with me. Don't worry, she is definately NOT an ex-JW and she can't prove otherwise. Regardless of her opinion, the burden of proof lies with the accused. Can she prove she was ever a JW? No she can't and she knows it. Spouting off a few people's names isn't proof. LOL......I guess to most children they don't know what proof means.

    - LOL! I guess Magpie's cult tactic now is "when you've clearly lost an argument, accuse the other person of being someone else". Classic.

    - Sorry Kaubern, but you can't leave what you were never a part of to begin with. Nice try. LOL

No. You cannot even begin to fathom how wrong the JWits are. Their beliefs are incorrect and are littered with inconistencies and errors, hypocrisy and scare tactics. They are brainwashed, unhappy people and I wouldn't want you to be sucked in to their lies.

Email me if you want more info, I'm sort of typing this in a rush during my break at work...lol.

TO "Joe" what a nasty piece of work you are, and by the way the "burden of proof" lies with the accuser. Everyone over the age of 10 knows this. Oh sorry...LOL.

Joe - clearly you need to do some more research into the phrase "innocent until proven guilty." You've accused a fellow YA member on here of being a liar. Unless you can back this up with evidence, your claim has no grounds. See how that works? Its very simple. Most people get it. Why don't you?

You're right, we're not in court. But the principles are the same. I can't believe the nasty things you come out with. And you, a supposed Christian?

You should only become one of Jehovah's Witnesses if you believe what they teach is the truth. I'd encourage you to study the Bible carefully to see if it truly is inspired by God. Determine for yourself whether or not it's in harmony with solid science. And then determine for yourself whether or not Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs are in harmony with what the Bible teaches.

"Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine." (1 Thess. 5:21)

I hope my answer is actually read, but to answer your question no. Do not become a JW. check out www.exjwvideos.com

it is a complete blasphemous cult/organization that feed on authority.

this is a complete copy and paste from the bible (the actual bible, not the JW's rewritten modified bible)

    it mentions the jehovah's witnesses.

Written by John the apostle of Jesus Christ who wrote one of the 4 gospels.

    1 John Verse 2:

"Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come. 19 These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.

20 But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit,[e] and all of you know the truth. 21 So I am writing to you not because you don’t know the truth but because you know the difference between truth and lies. 22 And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ.[f] Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.[g] 23 Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

24 So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. 25 And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us.

26 I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. 27 But you have received the Holy Spirit,[h] and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit[i] teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ."

That is unedited. i think the JW religion is horrible. its based on deceit and lies. 50% of the JW religion leaves its cult by mid-teens. and many suicidal. they can justify killing, it breaks up families. and they are blinded by evil. they dont believe in hell. and they think only 144,000 "christians" will get into paradise on earth (their beliefs of heaven are sketchy at best). if that number was true, the JW cult has over 6 million antichrist followers. that would mean that only 1/6th of them would get in.

the actual bible is truth. read it for yourself and make up your own mind.

    god bless.

    EDIT:

i also wanted to note in the above passage that 'the last hour has come' is vague and unclear. it doesnt mean the world is coming to an end anytime soon. the Jehovah's Witnesses have rewritten their facts since the early 1900's a handful of times. but the one true bible has been clear and true since its word was written from the old testament nearly 4000 years ago. They like to dazzle you with meager subtle hebrew word traslations to say the real bible is false, and thats how they hook u into their religion. but the bible teaches us that the MESSAGE of the bible is more important than a single word. also im reminded of a popular phrase: "no one knows sctripture like the Devil"; meaning that the devil is a lawyer, who reviews every word and finds fault in faith. follow the message and love of the bible and in Christ.

If you DO follow the Jehovah's Witnesses and times do get tough in your life, please don't kill or commit suicide or worry. For Christ will always be there to forgive you welcome u on the path of righteousness..

and i hate sounding all 'bibly' lol but I hope i've helped in some way.
