Its the same principle for optimising a blog as it is for a website for the search engines.

You need to develop backlinks from authroity sites etc.

Try and make sure that your blog is on any directory that 2 or more of your competiting blogs are on

Look at the backlinks your competitor sites have links on. You can do this for free using Yahoo Site Explorer. This will only show a selection of their links though.

Become active in other forums, posting your sites URL when its a relevant topic to your site. Remember though you should add to the forums community and only post interesting posts.

It would have been better if you had mentioned your blog url as well. As bringing traffic to one's blog is a collection of do ables rather than one single thing. Some of them you may already be doing, keep learning and acting.
