I was talking to an elderly ex-Marine about the Democratic health care bill....?

And he went on and on about how he was against the government run plan.

This is a man who goes to the VA for much of his medical care for free. He is on Medicare and Social Security. And he is happy with these programs.

Does any else see some hypocrisy with this?

Update:

Jedi way...all I've found today is hypocrisy. And I never said he didn't deserve the coverage...but that's they way you guys take a straight forward question and read something into it.

Update 2:

Marty, this guy uses the VA for his various checkups and other issues that cover him. He's in Houston and has no complaints. Sorry you only believe what you want to believe.

pass to the yank kinfolk association cyber web internet site and hear an interview that Senator Fred Thompson did with a woman . She has examine the bill and he or she examine this actual internet site. Senator Fred Thompson on the Obama well being care bill And sure this is real that congress & the president are excempt. in certainty the President became into asked approximately that for the time of his information component final week--which he disregarded that question . and a few congressmen have been asked approximately it and replied that they might think of roughly it--yeh which will take place. Why could they provide up their loose coverage that WE PAY FOR? And why might they opt for to pass by way of counseling consultation in the event that they're the right age for social risk-free practices? If this coverage were in result final year Ted Kennedy might nevertheless have had his concepts surgical treatment for a cancerous tumor which will come back. yet all people else could have been refused the surgical treatment because of the fact this is incurable. purely the president & congress get particular favors.

As an Active Duty Soldier on Tri-care, no I don't. Tri-care for those that don't know is the Clinton Administration's attempt at Government run health care. The only place that they were able to get it in place was the military. Prior to that the military was on Champus which gave more choices in medical care. The big problem that I've seen with Tri-care is that the quality of care is much lower than I've seen in my civilian insurance. This is due to the fact that you are required to see military and DA civilian doctors. If there is a screw-up in your care there is really no recourse (we can't sue the Gov't). In some cases it takes months to be seen for some procedures. A lot of times new procedures are not even authorized because they are deemed "experimental". Just remember free doesn't always mean good.

Not at all, you left one big part out.

You pay a payroll tax your entire life for SS and medicare.

You paid a blood price for VA benefits.

Now exactly what is everyone gonna pay for Obama care ?

They are not taxing everyone with a payroll tax to fund it like SS and medicare.

They are not requiring anyone to enlist like the VA.

It is just a tax person A, so you can give health care to person B free plan.,

And if you cannot see the difference between how SS and Medicare are self funded and VA benefits are earned the hard way.

    And Obama care

Then no amount of answering your question is gonna matter.

NOTE: Can you imagine if Bush and the republicans tried to make it mandatory for everyone to buy health insurance from the insurance companies.

The Democrats would have screamed so loud, it would have been heard in China, they would be accusing the republicans of trying to make their insurance company buddies rich.

If you have any honesty, you will admit that's exactly how the democrats would have acted, if that was a republican proposal.

  • I don't find that hypocritical. He paid his dues in service. I've heard the VA sucks anyway. My brother is in the Army and had to visit a dentist 3 times for one problem. They botched his root canal which became infected. He complains to me all the time how military care sucks. This is a good example to look at when considering Socialized Medicine.

You've been looking for hypocrisy all day with no luck. Give it up. For the record, that man served his country, the least we can do is give him free health care.

I know you are lying when you said that he is happy with the VA. The VA is the best example of why we DON'T want govt HC. Does ANY program they run work? Medicare/SS both broke and costs more every year.

No hypocrisy there. Being elderly or a vet is much different than being a lazy bum who can't get a good enough job that offers health care.

He served his country to EARN his health care. There's nothing hypocritical about expecting others to earn their health care too.
