There are a LOT of reasons. For one thing all you have to do is look at countries that do have it, like Canada, to see that it isn't all it's cracked up to be. A big reason is that every single person in this country already has healthcare, if they want it. I deal, professionally, with these sorts of people every single day that cry about not having any healthcare. But of course they have a big screen TV, and every cable channel imaginable, and a nice newish car in the driveway of their run down trailer or beat up crummy apartment. If someone is too stupid, or too lazy, to make proper choices in their life then I don't see why I should have to pay their insurance bill for them. Of course the system will be abused. Horribly abused. It might be OK in some areas. But if you get into some of these inner city areas we have here in the U.S. where there are an abundance of lazy, drug addict scumbags around we will end up paying for all kinds of things that we shouldn't be. I'm not implying that all city dwellers fit this category, as I live in the city myself, but anyone who isn't blind can plainly see what I'm talking about just by getting out and walking around one of our large cities. You ask is the government going to raise taxes? We're in the middle of the worst recession in nearly 100 years where government programs are being cut left and right and yet a 900 BILLION DOLLAR health care bill was passed. Where do you think that money is going to come from? Perhaps the worst part of this whole thing though is that it is 100% illegal. The government in the U.S. has been carefully laid out. We have state governments that run things and a federal government that is there ONLY to facilitate interstate commerce and to represent the states internationally. It has been ruled before that anything not specifically laid out in the constitution as being a job of the federal government they have no business messing in. Yet the federal government is about to REQUIRE the states to spend literally BILLIONS of dollars to pay for people's healthcare??? I don't remember seeing anything in the constitution or the bill of rights about life, liberty and the pursuit of insurance. Now if the feds wanted to pass a bill that would provide additional funding to states that wanted to pass their own health care bills that would be perfectly legal. If the states want to do it, then they can, but the federal government has no right to require it. I'm not saying that there shouldn't have been some healthcare changes, primarily to help those with pre-existing conditions and what not. My last issue of National Geographic had a graph in it which showed a lot. The U.S. government ALREADY spends more than twice as much, per capita, on healthcare than other developed nations. Including those with healthcare. A lot of that going to those on welfare. So Obama's solution, like all of his others, is to just pour money on the fire until it goes out??? Great plan. But this socialist program that Obama has forced down our throats is not only illegal, it not only goes against everything this country was founded on, it is an incredily STUPID idea.

the country isn't so great. the only human beings interior the worldwide who think of so are the human beings who stay there and are wealthy. there's a extensive hollow between the unfavourable and the wealthy which will keep getting greater interior the call of the almighty dollar or the distinguished 'capitalism'. to answer your final question, the human beings of the remainder of the worldwide be attentive to greater effective. the country ranks very low on desireable places to stay interior the worldwide. the country is a rest room. era. All we pay attention someplace else is their ramming down our throats approximately 'freedom'. merely take a seem on the Dixie Chicks' and how they tried to education (what the country preaches) their 'suited to unfastened SPEECH and that they have been given reemed vast time. there is not any unfastened speech there inspite of the consistent pontifications of its politicians. each and every superpower interior the history of the worldwide has fallen, and the country is not any distinctive. merely wait till they run out of supplies, because of the fact they have no appreciate for the ambience. Time will tell. sorry to rant, yet you're truthfully suited. And no President will ever restoration something using truthfully ridiculous term limits set upon them. 8 years isn't probable long adequate for somebody to enforce lasting replace. The activity is a figurehead place with vast agencies pulling all the strings. money is the be all and end all. Immigrants are lining as much as get there because of the fact they have no theory what that's like. merely like one hundred years in the past while all of them theory the 'streets have been paved with gold' the immigrants of as we communicate have faith they are going to be residing like what they see on American television, while the reality is they're going to maximum probable be on food stamps, welfare and holed up in a tiny house in an inner city. it rather is the reality and it rather is tragic. Povery in u.s. is like third worldwide, i've got seen it. No working water etc... it rather is fabulous besides the incontrovertible fact that it exists. In my united states of america, there merely is not any such ingredient as human beings residing that a ways below the poverty point or being with out water, it merely would not take place.

The biggest reason that I don't like it is that the federal government is mandating that everyone has coverage when a lot of people have chosen not to have coverage. Also, if you did any research at all, the Canadian system has long back logs and is finally bringing back private doctors and insurance. Finally, the cost of this will hasten the bankruptcy of our nation. Remember that Medicare and Medicaid are cash hogs now and Social Security is rapidly heading towards being a cash hog. Also, the States that have tried Universal Health Care had their plans go into the red within two to three years.

One, we have no extra money. The current government is spending 1.5 TRILLION dollars a year more than it takes in!!!!
Two, do you know how many Canadians come to the US for health care? The Canadians who think health care is great in Canada are the one who don't use it! If the US goes to a national health care system were will the Canadians go?
Three, how much government control is a free country to put up with?

There is no problem. We do have HEALTH care. The best in the world which is why wealthy Canadians come to the US for medical treatments even your elected officials. Your Health care system is ok but certainly not great. Waiting for weeks and months for exams is not great. We get our exams the same day which is in fact great. Now what Americans want is our industrial jobs back in the US so Americans can work and pay for our own insurance policies, but since the Obama administration isn't interested in creating job I guess we need something so it will have to do. But it is a substandard solution. Substandard by a long way.

The US is based on freedom of choice (it used to be anyway) and some people choose not to get insurance (it is even against some recognized religions to use medical services). Also, there are uninsured who can't afford insurance and still won't be able to under the new plan, but they are mandated to buy it or be penalized in ever increasing amounts (just because you say someone has to buy it, doesn't mean they can afford buy it.) Then there is the fact that premiums will skyrocket in costs, which will make it even harder for people who do scrape up enough to buy insurance.
It is not a good plan at all. It is designed to fail so the government can "fix" it by eliminating insurance completely and take over the entire system - and, of course, pass huge tax increases to "pay" for the system, which they will use to fund other liberal programs (just like SSI).

I would say its more about choice than health care. Some choose not to buy insurance and pay out of pocket. Some like me choose to buy large claim only insurance and use a health saving plan. Under this garbage that is being jamed down our throats our choices are pretty much gone. Plus its more about health insurance reform not health care reform.

If Canadian health care is so great, how many new, state of the art drugs have they researched and developed in the last 60 years? Research and development are all but dead in Canada due to your "great" health care system.

If Canadians had health care like the U.S., I guarantee they wouldn't think their current system is a great one.
