Very likely - and Obama has said that the Federal Government won't get involved. It's LONG LONG LONG overdue.

It's a tough sell. Even as liberal as California is, there are still lots of folks who disagree with the idea of legalizing Marijuana.

I personally favor it and think it will make a great test case for the nation. If after we do it, we can evaluate 10 years later or so whether our state has gone to hell (beyond what it already has) or not. If not, there's no good reason not to legalize it nation wide.

I think it is 100% unlikely to even make the ballet, due to the fact that both State & Federal Law Enforcement gain huge PROFITS from maintaining marijuana prohibition.

The only people profiting from marijuana prohibition are Law Enforcement and Gangsters - just like when Alcohol prohibition was the law of the land.

Prohibition of a substance is futile and only hurts the users.

    Edit:

@ Pfo Un-true statement. Growers as well as Dealers hire lobbyists to maintain their profits in Washington. Growers, Dealers and Law Enforcement are ALL in favor of keeping this “substance” illegal in order to maintain “funding” as well as profits.

from what ive heard its unlikely, which is too bad. federal legalization was the one good thing i was hoping for out of obamas presidency. if it passed i think california could be a great example of how much it can help the economy and slow down the violence that surrounds it. considering how bad california is doing if it helped a lot i could see obama pushing for a federal legalization. and to the person who said obama said hes against it, he also said he was against reconciliation, and would pull all the troops out by now, and he would close gitmo, and that thered be transparency etc etc. lets hope his lies work out in our favor for once.

Hard to call at this point. One poll indicated the majority of Californians are in favor of legalization, another shows the majority are opposed.

If you are referring to a federal government mandate then there is zero chance. It won't appear on the ballot.

Last time they tried this, it was just growers fronting money for a pro-pot propaganda campaign, and this time it's no different. They don't have the numbers on their side, and the numbers they do have aren't likely to make it to the ballot box.

    not very.

Realistically, many private interests want it to remain illegal:

Drug dealers, DEA, Prisons, Pharmaceutical companies...
