is it reasonable to assume?
I have decided that in general people just want to hate each other. Is there a rational argument against this premise?

Well, that wouldn't really make sense from an evolutionary standpoint. We're social creatures - it's hardwired into our biology to form strong bonds with other people. That's partly responsible for how we've thrived as a species.
EDIT: However, some of us are douchebags. I'll agree to that.

Unless one is born again and Christ has given them a new heart, mankind cannot love each other, as to say all over the world. We are too wicked. We are sinful by nature. No matter what the age or gender. This is what we are. We destroy and kill for pleasure ( animal hunt). We are very sinful. Only Christ can change us with a new heart and a new soul. Even we have to be very careful to stay close to the Lord , because our sinful bodies still lust after sin. A good example is King David. He killed a man to get what he wanted. He never lost his salvation, but his sinful body lust for something and he allowed it to take over. Where as Joseph did not. He ran from his master's wife temptation. So we too when we are in that kind of place, we run and flea from sin. On may 21, 2011 the end is coming. Next yea. Learn more at...

No, assumptions are based on emotion, not reason.
The phrase "Survival of the fittest", often credited to Charles Darwin sums it up nicely.
Life is a contest. Everything, and everybody is an opponent.
It makes sense, then, to conclude that that "hate", negativity, a poor view of anyone else is simply an extension of the survival mechanism.
"I don't like you because while you exist, my chances of survival are diminished".
Of course, human beings are far too civilised , and advanced, "above" the animals to be like that.
Much.
People hate people for the same reason that lions kill cubs that aren't their own.
Survival of their "line".
In life, it's the bottom line. Survival of the fittest.
