Within your spiritual understanding: What are the qualities and attributes of a spiritual student?

I am still learning what it means to be a Spiritual Student so I am probably least qualified to answer my brother.

I do believe the young ones know, the children, because all of Life is joyful learning to the Child!

The Child is the personification of the Joyful Student!

May I become as a Child so I can truly see what there is to see & learn.

What makes the child such a beautiful learner/student?

It is that they surrender with total abandon to the learning process.

They have no guile, no agendas, no preconceived ideas of the how's, what's, or why's.

They have no need to defend or protect anything about what they are.

They are the ultimate example of how to Just be!

First, a division must be made between a spiritual student desiring the illusion of being a mystic and those who truly want to seek to become a servant of God. The servant is what I am speaking of here.

Those desiring to become a servant must first seek "the accurate knowledge of the truth" as Paul wrote. (Titus 1:1) This is teachings based solely on the teachings of the Bible, not just what someone has repeated for centuries. It comes from a personal study of the Bible and with others.

What such a study does is to change not only what you understand in your mind, but also your personality as well. How you effect and treat others. How you handle yourself. All these things change because what you learn with prayer and God's holy spirit direction.

What you will become is shown in the 3rd chapter of 1 Timothy concerning qualities for overseers and ministerial servants. Though not all in the congregation would hold these positions, this is still desirable qualities for a proper spiritually adult person. Why? 1 Timothy 4:6-8 shows:

"By giving these advices to the brothers you will be a fine minister of Christ Jesus, one nourished with the words of the faith and of the fine teaching which you have followed closely. 7 But turn down the false stories which violate what is holy and which old women tell. On the other hand, be training yourself with godly devotion as your aim. 8 For bodily training is beneficial for a little; but godly devotion is beneficial for all things, as it holds promise of the life now and that which is to come."

Starts with faith in the Lord, for with foundation rock in Him and this quality is truly in steeled this quality opens the door for fellowship and the sky is the limit. To be to extreme in word only and no matter with (light), were still thirsty, like Jesus when approaching the women at the well. And latter after the women left he said to his disciples I have food to eat that you do not know about.

The unity of male and female/male in Truth in the LORD is.

And both were made male and female theses in the LORD and the curse is broken. They are not ashamed.

For heaven becomes all conclusive, Salaams, for they are not students then but eternal beings in faith and the sky is the limit. For the fire is quench by faith, and eternal life is at hand.

What are 'qualities' and 'attributes' truly but mere words which allow for the formulation of judgments of another. It matters not if the words promote postiveness, beauty or wisdom. It matters not if the words promote negativity, heinous sights or ignorance. Words' only purpose is for description alone but it is the ego's purpose to twist words into meanings whereby they can be used for judgment.

Rely not upon words. Those who call forth the purity of heart so that the unabated song of Truth rings loud and clear know its name. And yet names matter not as well. Thus a name is not necessary.

The mind wishes to reason all things and yet cannot fathom that which is beyond reason thus the mind attacks what it cannot grasp with reason, knowledge, intelligence or logic. Blessed are they who rest in the purity of their hearts for they hear what many wish to reason.

To be a student of the spiritual, simply BE that. Fret not about terms, labels, values, attributes, et al for those lead down the path away from Truth. Call forth your heart and soon, you too will hear its song of celebration.

To become a spiritual student is not a mere comprehension of the 'mind'. The mind tries to divide and rationalize logic and reasoning. There are some things our minds cannot understand. The heart is the key to this spiritual enlightenment. Being, selfless and of pure love without the desires of the material world. One who doesn't wander off to fulfill the selfish desires of the body but wanders to connect to the inner being which is made of light and love. A mystical lover...

The mind cannot help us in our spiritual quest.

Our present mind can only open up the reality we are already in, but cannot take us beyond, where we want to be.

So the spiritual student has to aspire to "faith above reason", where we acknowledge the mind, whatever it gives us about our present state, but then we take a leap beyond into the unknown, annulling ourselves before the next, upper level.

Obviously we can only do that if we have support.

A spiritual student is one who has lost all but the echo of the one who is calling.

All of us are on this path, some with a little higher vibration than others, but there is really only this one call and this one hearing of it.

The relationship of a Human-Being with the stream of humanity, and its ultimate Totality with the One Divine Principle is one important quality of spiritual student.

Are we not all spiritual students just through the process of living?

Paradoxically, both humility, and confidence in ones Self. Confidece that the goal is attainable, and attained as well. Along with humility that you have nothing to do with it. An ability to retain, and let go of your ego. Balance of Mind, and emotion, or passion.
