Christ died on the stake at 3 PM, 14th of Nisan, a Wednesday, (April 5th) at the same time the Passover Lambs were being killed, put into the ground just before sundown that evening, raised from the dead 3 days and 3 nights later, before sundown on Saturday. Thursday was a special sabbath day John 19:31 "The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day ,)besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away." Jesus did spend three days and nights in hell. Matthew 12:40 " For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth."

Jesus’ death took place on Friday, Nisan 14, by about 3:00 p.m.—Lu 23:44-46.

His life was given in its entirety because anything else would not have been a perfectly corresponding ransom...this is one of the reasons that support the fact that Jesus was Gods son and not God himself (if it were otherwise the ransom - a perfect man, Jesus, in exchange for a perfect man, Adam, - would not have been made).
