Why was FANTASIA removed from the 2007 version of the AFI's 100 Greatest films of all time list?
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI%27s_100_Years..._... , FANTASIA, th 58th film in the original 1998 list, was removed from the 1oth Anniversary edition of the list in 2007. What reason did AFI give for this removal? I'm askung because one film in the list, whch deserved to be removed (The Birth of a Nation by DW Griffiths) was removed, but compared to that film, FANTASIA deserved to stay on the list (at least in my opinion).

they revoted. it wasn't taken off the list for any specific reason, but they sent out new ballots and had people vote. for whatever reason, this time it didn't get enough votes to stay on. I love Fantasia, but a lot of the new ones that were added (that weren't on the original list at all) definitely deserved to be on there imo: Saving Private Ryan, 12 Angry Men, LOTR, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, etc.
this site shows the old and new list and how far each moved up or down (or appeared)

A lot of people didn't get that movie. I personally love it. It's the very first example of music videos ever made, 40 years before MTV came along. I think a cult following saved this movie from disappearing forever, but it took time, even when it came out back in 1940.
It shouldn't have been removed IMO, but that list is a list of opinions.. I think that might somewhat answer your question.
