Which face of Murdoch do you look to?

The one which says global warming is a scam, or the one which trumpets environmental foresight?

Update:

Joel - The article didn't slam Murdoch for being environmentally responsible, but for his hypocrisy in continuing an editorial policy of denying global warming, after admitting "Climate change poses clear, catastrophic threats." . Murdoch has no honor, sir. You should look to yours.

The story says "in a company-wide address on the subject in 2007, Murdoch said, "Climate change poses clear, catastrophic threats." He pledged to make News Corp. carbon neutral..."

I remember that story from 3 years ago. We talked about it on this site, wondering if he could possibly be serious. As the article notes, since then Fox News has been one of the biggest sources of global warming denial in the mainstrem media. They had a field day this past winter when there was a snowstorm in the NE USA, claiming "Al Gore's global warming theory" was debunked by a winter snowstorm.

Murdoch claims he's unaware of what's going on with Fox News. I don't buy it for a second. He's a smart man and shrewd businessman. I think he knows exactly what they're reporting. He knows they're a major source of global warming denial, and really the leadership of the Tea Party movement. But he knows those issues are great for ratings.

Like the article says, he's hedging his bets. He knows global warming is real and a major threat, but knows Fox News gets great ratings from denying it. And for Murdoch, those ratings translate into profits.

I prefer this over the alternative - News Corp leads the way in AGW misinformation, while behind the scenes doing nothing to fight it.

And as long as Fox stays the highest rated cable news network, I seriously doubt Murdoch has much say over any published or aired content.

That article slams Rupert Murdoch for taking steps to make his companies more energy efficient and less harmful to the environment. Only a liberal would write such an article.

Neither--I don't try to look at him, I just enjoy his television programming.
