Is Socialism an anti-Christian anti-Biblical concept?

Are there any verses or cascade of verses in any Bible that define

Universal healthcare = socialism = anti-christian

Are there any verses or cascade of verses in any Bible that makes a fatwa to promote anti-Socialism?

Did Jesus teach anything that could be projected into modernity that implies that he was against Socialism?

Does belief in Jesus and all the salvation perks that goes with it necessitate an anti-Socialism stand?

Socialism equals a lot more than just universal health care, in fact universal health care does not necessarily have to be a socialist program (although Americas is).

Jesus said to render what is Caesars unto Caesar, but He also said to rely on the Father for our daily life needs. So. yes, there are verses.

Source(s): NOWHERE does Jesus tell us to rely on the government for anything.

Ad seriatim: 1. I worship EVERY DAY, not JUST SUNDAY. I do not observe the Sabbath day at all, because I am a Gentile. You want a Scripture, well it would be very hard to give you one, because THE SCRIPTURE NEVER COMMANDS THE GENTILES TO OBSERVE THE SABBATH! Read the Scriptures, my boy.....PLEASE! You may observe the Sabbath if you wish, I see no harm in that, as long as you don't attempt to condemn others who choose not to. This is a discussion which goes clear back to the first century, when some were insisting Christians observe the Sabbath (despite the decision of the Jerusalem Council). So Paul addresses it very simply by saying: "One man esteemeth one day above another. Another man esteemeth every day equally. LET EACH MAN BE FULLY PERSUADED IN HIS OWN MIND." In other words: "Stop bickering about it!" Now that was nearly 2,000 years ago; I guess some folks are just a little slow on the uptake. Secondarily, as far as the content of the canon goes, it was certainly arrived at by your betters, but if you wish to read other books as well, by all means, feel free. As loused up as your theology is already, I think it really won't harm you any further no matter what you read. (Try Alice in Wonderland, and Franz Kafka.....) Thirdly, I don't know ANYONE who uses 'the Bible ALONE for our ultimate salvation.' Jesus Christ is our salvation, not any book; not even the Bible. Where DO you come up with this stuff?

Jesus is of no particular political persuasion. One could argue otherwise but that would negate the very fact Jesus came to set up a kingdom not of this world.

Let me tell you something, this society--America with it's democracy and captialism-- could work much better if Christians were actually doing what they're supposed to do with in their own communities.

Christians were to share the burdens of everyone in their congregations. They did not build huge edificies and run them like corporations today. No, they cared for their people and they had money for everyone's needs. Families were taking care of their own and faithfully giving every single thing to the kingdom of God. It was a rare time of Christian brotherly love. If anyone had a need, it was met by the bretheren.

IF this were to be the standard and practice of all those in America who claim to be Christians there would be little need for huge social outreaches and extensive child care. Women would raise children at home and father's would work hard to take care of their families and their financial responsibilities. No one would be greedy of gain because they would recognize the very fact that this life is temperal and their rewards in heaven would be eternal.

Socialism is not living in Christian brotherly love but it is an enforced standard of living upon a peoples that everyone has the right to be equally poor. Remember, even the Christians in the Bible said,

2 Thessalonians 3:10-12, "For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread."

Jesus called us to part of God's kingdom, not die-hard followers of any kingdom on earth. In other words, Jesus was not a socialist or capitalist or communist. Jesus was beyond all of those because he was God! I think different political systems all have different problems. The original Christ-followers shared wealth and resources with each other which could thought of as either communist/socialist. It doesn't matter what kind of government you have. What matters is if it is affecting your life with Jesus. Jesus was not anti-government (as shown when he was asked about taxes). Jesus simply calls us to a higher calling of God's kingdom rather than this earth.

Of course it is the bible is a book of instructions on how to best keep the proletariat in their place and the wealthy reaping the benefits of their labour. Socialism is based on the stupid un american idea that the people of the land deserve a decent share of the wealth it produces

The church itself exhibits some socialism:

    Acts 4:32-35 (King James Version)

32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

33And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

34Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

35And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

...but ofcourse everyone able should work:

    2 Thessalonians 3:10

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

You'll find the complete opposite in the Bible, through the acts he did in the Bible Jesus reveals himself to be a Socialist.

To be honest, I'd be surprised if Jesus favored Capitalism. "Stepping on the little guy" doesn't exactly seem like a policy an honest carpenter would have approved of.

Not at asll. Read the ACTS OF THE APOSTLES. They all lived and worked together for the betterment of everyone. That is Socialism at it's finest.

It is arguable that Jesus was a socialist.

He was always talking about how righteous the poor are, and how evil the rich are. Hell, he even distributed food evenly throughout a crowd once.
