Atheists and Christians, Why do you ask questions you already have an opinion about?

All I'm saying is I see a whole lot of questions asked and best answers given that seem biased towards an answer rather than open to new ideas

Update:

I forgot to add, I'm a youth pastor and a Christian. I have nothing against atheists so please don't think this is targeted towards you. This is for both atheists and Christians. Your answers are all appreciated and most make me laugh

I think a lot of people do just that, they are just so insecure they need other people to agree with them to hide their own insecurities. So, of course, they will pick any answer that agrees with them and ignore the others that make good points they really ought to consider. Too bad. I try, at least, to learn something from the questions/answers I read. As an agnostic, I dont ask questions very often because neither theists nor atheists can very well handle the fact that they really cannot prove OR disprove that (any) "god(s) exist. It's sorta like watching a cross between WWF and Jerry Springer.

You sound like an intelligent and open-minded person. Hope you get a laugh out of my closing line.

    Blessings on your Journey!

The fact that you say you are a youth pastor and a Christian explains your confusion!!

Do you know what discussion is?

Do you know what debate is?

Christians seem intolerant of both if they do not agree with their own ideas!!

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. Aristotle

Because everyone likes to share their opinions -- everyone is biased towards Some point of view. Never hurts to hear new ideas either - but no one is going to believe every new idea either.

sometimes i like to hear what other people think. it's better than shutting everyone out and living in my own world. and even when i'm already biased i like to introduce people to my ideas subtly.

I like to offer those with a different opinion a chance to refute my own preconceived notions. I often give "Best Answer" to those who disagree with me -- if for no other reason than to highlight their absurdities.

What difference does it make to you?

I guess we want to know what others think about our particular point of view in the subject mentioned.

I'm guessing because there a bunch of us with our minds made up. We feel better when someone sides with us and "gets" it.

Why would I not answer a question I have the answer to?

they ask because they are curious about different views, but they choose the answer that is closest to their view because we only like hearing what we want to hear.
