How many women here go for men who are jerks?

I used to go for guys like that. Quite a few of them broke my heart. Then one day I realized that my best friend, who is your typical Mr. Nice Guy that everyone says women don't like, well....it dawned on me that he would make a great boyfriend. 8 months later, we're still going strong, and I've realized that this is probably the man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.

So it depends on what he wants from the woman. Does he want a fling or a relationship?

@ Aristotle - Heh heh, I like nerds too. But ya know, nerds can also be jerks - the two aren't mutually exclusive. But I guess I tend to fall for them because I'm a nerd too, so I can kinda relate. :)

No, women discover to their horror that the guy they started to date has now shown his true colors and is a complete jerk.

For some women, there is the hope that the bad behavior is caused by something that will later change, and that the actual sweet guy they met will return. If they have given their heart during the initial stage, it's hard to just forget this man.

If the dating was casual and the man was just one of many, it's easier to write this boyfriend off.

Women are hoping for a great man.

I don't think being a jerk is an especially attractive quality. I have dated men who turned out to be jerks. Sometimes I try to forgive someone's rudeness or ignorance if I like them enough. It doesn't always work out. As I get older I feel like I have less tolerance for jerky behavior.

Women just really like confidence about a man. Jerks just happen to be very confident. But you can be confident without being a jerk too.

No....don't be a jerk to increase your chances. You'll attract the wrong kind of woman!
