Who are the prominent members of the 'Avengers'?

As stated, the original (founding) members are: Ant-Man (aka Giant-Man), Wasp, Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk. Hulk didn't stay with the group for very long, he doesn't really play well with others...

Very soon after the team was founded, Captain America joined the group, and the membership has been constantly changing over the years. Some of the more prominent past members are Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hercules, Black Panther, Tigra, She-Hulk, Wonder Man, Vision, Beast (from the X-Men), even Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman (from the Fantastic Four).

The current line-up includes Spider-Man, Cage (aka Power Man) Wolverine, Captain America (two of them, it's complicated...), Spider-Woman, Ronin (aka Hawkeye), Ms. Marvel and Mockingbird in a group called "New Avengers"

And Hank Pym (aka Ant-Man or Wasp), Hercules, USAgent, Stature, Quicksilver, Vision, Jocasta and Amadeus Cho as a group called "Mighty Avengers".

There's also "Dark Avengers", but they're really villains masquerading as heroes...

BUT - it's all about to change again. The big guns are getting back together - Thor, Iron Man and Captain America, with more team members to be announced shortly.

originally it was thor, hank pym (antman and later giant man), iron man, the wasp, and hulk ( 1st comic was in 1963).

many others joined such as captain america, scarlet witch and hawkeye.

they used hulk to fight the avengers, because the avengers were too good. No villian could stop them, so they used a "non villian". The hulk was the most powerful so they people wrote comics and made movies to make the hulk vs the avengers merely for entertainment, not to follow the actual story of teh avengers.

Do you mean the two old people or the superheroes? If superheroes I think Hulk and Iron Man and the american one and wolverine. I don't know but I think thats it.
