I'm thinking that a "parting of the seas" type miracle, or maybe something more practical like the instantaneous disappearance of ebola from the planet, might help to win Him over some new converts.

Here's my problem: I have no money to buy a bike, or insure it, to store it or to perform even the most basic maintenance on it.

But I *really* want one. Preferably a new, red Ducati Monster, but I could also make due with a Triumph Bonneville or Scrambler or a H-D V-Rod.

So how do I work this? What's the angle?

I'm 45, and given the kind of income I'm capable of earning, it's mathematically impossible now for me to fund even a 10 year retirement. I don't mind working to the day I die, but I probably won't have that luxury; I'll probably outlive my money by 10-20 years. How do I forgive myself for the fact that I'm going to become a giant financial burden on my family one day? How do other people live with this knowledge?

I have a nice, 20" flatscreen monitor that wasn't being used for anything, so I tried to MacGuyver it to work with my playstation 2.

My Playstation 2 has regular RCA outputs for audio and video.  So I attached a RCA-to-VGA adapter to it.  

Since the VGA cord was male (as was the VGA cord coming from the monitor), I then used a VGA female-to-female adapter to let me connect the two VGA cords to one another.

Not working. What am I doing wrong? How can I fix it?

I'm restoring a Mossberg Model 30, single-shot, bolt action rifle an need to replace it's missing trigger guard. Unlike most guns, the trigger guard isn't part of the trigger assembly, but a separate piece that is affixed to the stock by two screws. Any ideas on where I can find a replacement? It doesn't have to be authentic to the gun.

For the past three days, I haven't heard a word out of my imaginary friend Douglas. If he's mad ar me, I honestly don't know why. What' the best way to handle this?

I don't need anything fancy, but a really simple text editor like Notepad would be crazy useful for me. Anyone figured out a way to do this?

Are kindness and integrity enough? Or is the capacity to contribute to the common good through one's career essential as well? What about one's capacity to be financially independent? What about being interesting? Having the capacity to effectively advocate for onesself? Other things?

What are the bottom line attributes that one most meet to be a good, worthwhile person?

Okay, just to set the record straight, I hate the guy. When he's not trying to kill me, he's trying to frame me for some crime or other, or sleep with my wife by making her think that he's me.

But the thing is, he's totally having a blast with it. He dresses better than me, has a cooler car (AND a motorcycle!), and chicks really dig him because he has that "bad boy" vibe that comes with being an evil clone.

How can I manage these envious feelings?

I mean, come on, what's not to love about Coulson? He's proving to be way cooler than Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, and that's setting the bar reasonably high. I want 120 minutes of Coulson thwarting plots, taking zero crap from Iron Man and Thor, and generally being The Man. Who's with me?

This is hard to describe: I'm working on a project and I need to fasten one plastic disc about 3" in diameter to a second one by a small swivel in their center so the top disc can rotate clockwise or counter-clockwise. The swivel needs to be small and ratcheted (meaning one would hear it make distinct clicks as it turns and it would keep the disc from rotating on its own). The closest thing I can think of to illustrate what I'm looking for is the kind of ratcheted swivel that some belt-clip cell phone holders have like this one: http://www.theclip.com/store/images/D/d-16373.jpg

Any idea where I could find something like that? Any idea what the correct term is for a component like that? Thanks....

I'd gladly drop some serious bucks on a device that has the functionality of an iPad, Motorola Zoom, Blackberry Playbook, etc., but I won't want to get saddled with the cost of a cell phone as well, not to mention paying for two 3G or 4G contracts instead of just one. Why don't the manufacturers just incorporate cell phone functionality into these devices to begin with?

So I've got this old notebook PC that I tossed Ubuntu on and I love it, but I want to write some of my own apps to make it do new, geeky things. My only programming experience is early 1980's BASIC:

Whenever I want to comment on someone's post on Facebook, I don't have a Comment button to click on to submit my message. I have this problem whether I'm using IE8, IE9 or Google Chrome...though I do get the Comment button on my Blackberry. Any advice on how I can fix this?

I loved the older version of Movie Maker that came standard with Windows XP and Windows Vista, and I absolutely HATE the Windows Live Movie Maker software that came with Windows 7 (Worst. Software. Ever.) Is there any way I can install one of the older versions on my new 7 PC?

I'm trying to learn to play the guitar, but whenever I encounter a difficult chord (say, F or F#m), there is absolutely no way I can make my hand barre the whole first fret AND cleanly hold down other strings...I really struggle even with very easy chords.

Seriously, I could spend the next 40 hours trying to play F#m, and it ain't happening...what's the trick, guitar players? How do I progress from "that's flippin' impossible" to "okay, I can do that?"

I switched my PC from Windows to Ubuntu and am looking for a text-to-speech-to-MP3 app like TextAloud that will work with Linux. Any ideas?

I recently installed Debian Linux on a notebook PC, but it didn't install correctly. Now I have a boot CD for Ubuntu Linux. However, my PC insists on automatically booting from the hard drive. I've changed the boot options via (F12) and changed the boot order list in Setup (F2), but neither change worked. Any ideas?

Marvel's done a pretty good job of translating their comic book heroes to the "live action" big screen: Spidey, Iron Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four and even DareDevil all look pretty cool in their movies. But the Captain America costume -- sweet sassy malassy, that looked cheesy! I am officially worried for that movie, and by extension, for the Avengers movie. Someone either agree with me or convince me that all hope is not lost.
