  • Why is the Pro Bowl 1 week before the Super Bowl this year?

Isn't it usually held 1 week AFTER the Super Bowl? Is there a reason for the change, or did I not get the memo?

  • Bet you can't name a GOOD song from THIS decade?

I sure can't - can you prove me wrong?

My first thought is that no good songs have been written since 1969 - but I actually do like some 70's and 80's music. So maybe no good songs have been made since 1989 - but I do like some albums from the 90's, like Tom Petty's.

But I cannot think of any good music that's been made in the last 9 years. Any suggestions? Please no heavy metal, grunge, hip-hop, rap, country or boy bands.

Yes, for the purposes of this question, I will be the sole arbiter of whether a song is "good" or not. But if you can prove me wrong, I will award the 10 points...good luck!

  • Top Chef - why does the Stew Room look so bad?

You have contestants cooking in a spotless (GE Monogram) kitchen - the appliances are always shiny, etc. Then the elimination challenge takes place in a gorgeous Las Vegas resort - or some mansion or ballroom or something.

So how come when the contestants are waiting to be told who this week's winners and losers are, they're sitting in what looks like a storage room, with buckets and mops and crates of old beer bottles?

Why does the "Stew Room" look so crappy?

  • New comic book day on holiday weeks?

I understand why New Comic Book Day (usually Wednesdays) gets pushed to Thursday on a week when there's a Monday holiday (such as Memorial Day).

I accidentally walked into my local comic shop yesterday, and the owner told me "Come back tomorrow" - but it seemed like the new books were already up on the shelf - but he couldn't sell them yet?

Is there some rule that prevents him from selling the books a day early (which would be on the regular day) during a week with a holiday?

  • The movie Armageddon - could the Space Shuttle go to the moon?

In the movie "Armageddon", the space shuttle is shown doing a sling-shot around the moon, to catch up with an asteroid. But the shuttle is primarily used to carry payloads into Earth orbit.

If needed, could the Space Shuttle go to the moon, or is this just a Hollywood fantasy?

  • Is Quentin Tarantino going to direct this weeks' Idol Ford music video?

Because, if not what the heck was he doing on the show last night? Giving tips on singing? This was like Tiger Woods giving tennis lessons...

Would you WANT to see this week's Ford music video directed by Quentin Tarantino? Could you imagine that?

  • American Idol - why no chairs in holding room?

When they separate the groups into 3 or 4 rooms - and they have to wait to find out if they made it through Hollywood week, why are there no chairs in the holding room? The contestants get to sit at every other time during the tryouts and Hollywood week (even if it's a stadium seat) so how come when they're close to the final cut, it looks like they're in a prison cell? There's only 75 or so people, can't the show afford a few folding chairs at this point? It looks cheap.

  • Seen on dog show broadcast - treats kept in handler's mouth?

We were watching the Dog Show recently on Animal Planet - when the dogs were being examined by the judge, it looked like the dog's trainer/handler took a treat from his or her own mouth to give to the dog. This happened several times, several different handlers. Are they storing treats in their mouth, or are they moistening them, or is something else going on? I don't get it...

  • Are most Thanksgiving turkeys female?

According to an episode of American Eats on History Channel, most of the turkeys consumed on Thanksgiving are female (hens). Can this be true? Don't they need some of the hens to lay eggs, and make more turkeys? Shouldn't this mean that most of the turkeys used for consumption are male (toms)?

  • Do you think Gore is secretly relieved that he wasn't President?

Given all of the events of the last 8 years - 9/11, war in Iraq/Afghanistan, the economic downturn, and given that George W. Bush has one of the lowest approval ratings ever -

In hindsight, do you think Gore thinks he could have done a better job as president, or is he secretly relieved that he didn't have to deal with all that? Do you think he's still sore over the 2000 election, or does he see it as a blessing in disguise?

(I'm not saying 9/11 wouldn't have happened if Gore were elected - that's a separate, debatable issue...)

  • Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich? What's the deal?

Is there some secret deal going on between Campbell's and Kraft Singles? Every time I see a tomato soup ad, it's paired with a grilled cheese sandwich. Why not tuna? Why not bologna? Is there some connection between these food items that I'm missing?

Best detailed answer gets the points. Please don't just say "well, they just go together" - I need to know if real people eat this combo, and why, or if it's just people in commercials. Thx.

  • Why are fat people on "Hole in the Wall"?

Some of them have really no chance of moving their body into the wall shapes (unless the shape is a circle, which it never is...)

What makes the really large people think they have a chance on this show? I mean, I'm overweight, but these people are ROUND!

How long before the show gets cancelled for basically just making fun of fat people?

  • Det. John Munch on the Simpsons?

I KNOW that I have seen an animated Det. Munch on the Simpsons - but Wikipedia is now claiming that is an error - but I've seen it!

It was some time in season 17 or 18, can someone with a good memory help me correct Wikipedia and IMDB?

PLEASE don't quote Wikipedia or IMDB to me, since I KNOW that they are wrong. Which episode of The Simpsons featured Richard Belzer as Det. John Munch?

This character holds the record for appearing on the most different series - including Arrested Development, X-Files, The Beat, Homicide, and several Law + Order shows - but the Simpsons episode should be added to the record!

  • In the Beatles song "Back in the USSR", what does BOAC stand for?

I just looked it up, wanted to see if anybody else knew what it is.

The lyrics are "Flew in from Miami Beach, B.O.A.C., didn't get to bed last night."

  • Do you eat your hamburgers upside-down?

When you pick up the hamburger from your plate, and bring it to your mouth, is the top bun on top, or on the bottom? In other words, do you bite into the side closest to you, or do you go "over the top" and eat it from the far side? The people in fast-food ads seem to eat the side closest to them, because the burger looks better on camera, but do people really eat their burgers that way?

  • Why do people in Oreos commercials open the cookie?

Then they lick the inside filling, put it back together and dunk it in the milk. Why open the cookie if they're going to put it back together again right away? I don't see the point. Is this some kind of weird instruction guide on how to eat the cookie? I just dunk and eat it...

  • Newark Liberty Airport Express bus?

There are 3 locations in Manhattan where the bus to Newark Airport leaves from - if I buy a ticket on-line, is it good at any of the 3 bus stops?

(Port Authority, Bryant Park and Grand Central are the three stops)

  • What's up with the Capri Sun ads? 4 versions?

You know the "Respect the Pouch" ads - 2 kids outside a mansion, one steps on the empty pouch.

In the first version, the kid explodes. Did someone complain about this and make them change the ad?

In the second version, the kid's clothes fly off, and the other kid reaches for his underwear - what's up with that?

In the third version, the kids turn into a fairy princess and a grandfather clock - huh?

Is this just a bunch of weirdness, or do they have to keep changing the commercial due to complaints?
