I Just Read 'The Killing Joke', What now?

I've always been a fan of Batman cartoons (BTAS) and Movies (all of them, not just Nolan's) but until I bought The Killing Joke on a whim, I've never actually read any of the graphic novels/ comics. I really enjoyed it and I was wondering where to go from here. I know there are a lot of different Batman story lines and series and I'm not sure where to start. I don't even know if you can get copies of the older ones.

The Killing Joke was written by Alan Moore if I remember right, so I would try some of Frank Miller's Batman work. I would just say away from his All-Star Batman. That one isn't for everyone and is really just a huge satire. Don't read that one if you are new to the comics, but his other stuff is great with the title. Grant Morison is the current writer, so if you want to get current I would read some of his stuff. Like Batman RIP. Batman: The Widening Gyre by Kevin Smith is pretty fun and my all-time fav Batman comic is Batman: Year One Houndred by Paul Pope. It's an amazing read. Really well done.

A lot of older comics are now available or being made available in trade paper back form (or TPB).

As for what to read next, well, it kind of depends on what you liked best about TKJ. I would suggest Batman: Year One, because it's a really neat telling (or re-telling) of Batman's origins. The Joker isn't in it, though, but that doesn't take away from how good it is. :)

Do a search over at Google or Amazon for TPBs in which the Joker makes a major appearance, if he's what you liked best about TKJ.
