More kittens and a whole lot of problems, what should I do?

Ok, so I have asked many cat questions and gotten my answers for them but now I have a new problem. I have a cat named Momma, and when we first found her as a stray she had 4 almost fully grown kittens with her. Three males and one female. Well since then she has moved inside and had another litter of kittens. Those kittens right now are going through the process of weaning but now her daughter from the first litter has had a litter of kittens in the trash can. Now she is still a stray that we feed sometimes but some people found the week old kittens and took them out, one died in the process but we got the other four and put them back. Last night Princess(the stray mom) came and only took three of them and hid them somewhere, but has left the other one to die. We found him and took him in and gave him to Momma hoping she would take him in as her own and she has but he is much younger than her others and she is unsure about him. What should I do, we had the police over here last night(long story) and they said that because of the population of strays and cats that they are being put down. they also said that all strays are being put down because they are full of diseases and are dangerous which is a load crap because Momma is the best cat we have ever owned and she was a stray. But what should I do and will she run out of milk before the baby is done with feeding? Has anyone had this situation before that could give me some advice?

Update:

This is also Princesses first litter and we already have plans for spaying Momma and are working on catching Princess and haivng her spayed too. Also the police we talked to told us that anyplace around here would have them put to sleep along with any other cats just found on the streets which include pets that could have gotten loose, If anyone out there is a police than I am sorry but I truley dislike Police and that is just my oppinion.

You should have all of the strays that you can catch spayed and neutered, not only the females, because the males are a huge contributor to cat overpopulation. Over 400,000 kittens can result from one unneutered male cat. Many vets offer low fee spaying and neutering, whether it is at all times or one certain days of the month or year.

Also, I strongly disagree with the [other answer] that you should not have the cats fixed. It is the only way to control the population, and it also prevents many STD's that cats can get if not fixed, and that saves cats' lives, which is much more important than wanting to have kittens around just because they are cute and great to have around.

I feel for you and the cats living in your area, I really do. This type of thing is typical; animal overpopulation, and so is the fact that the police and kill 'rescues' and 'shelters' don't care enough to have the animals checked by a vet or even kept to see if they have owners. It really breaks my heart, and I encourage you, if you can, to find a no-kill rescue or some people willing to help pay for vetting and fixing for the cats, and especially fostering. Though the authorities may not care about animals' lives, many other people do, and would be willing to help.

I wish you the best of luck. <3

When a kitten under perhaps 18 months has kittens, litter survival is not all that good. That is why breeders wait until their cats are 18 months before they are bred.

There may be a policy against stray cats that you cannot fight. But as long as they are on your property, they really should have no authority. And you know the importance of spay and neuter, which will control the population.

If you wind up with a situation where the kitten is not being cared for by the mother, then you have an orphan kitten situation, and I have provided a link which will give you all sorts of tips.

If you are in the US, I am providing another link to inexpensive spay/neuter clinics.

The first thing you should do is contact your local SPCA or Humane Society chapter and ask them for their opinion and if there's anyone who can help you trap these animals. There are some rescue groups that may take the kittens and try to adopt them out. You really need to understand that while you care about them, it's not fair for cats to keep having litter after litter on the streets. It's not okay for kittens to be born in trash cans. What kind of life is that for them? After those kittens are weaned, the adult females should be spayed so you can start to control the population. Somtimes, the SPCA may send you vouchers by mail so you can take the cats to the vet to get them spayed either for free or a discounted rate. You're right, the police are full of crap because they don't know if they have diseases or not. They just don't want strays in the area because of the overpopulation and it sounds like the neighbors have complained. I strongly advise you to contact your local SPCA for help. You need to get the population under control.

First go to PetsMart or a similar store and get KMR(milk replacement for kittens.) Be ready to get up around 2 am to feed, as the kitten needs a lot of nourishment). Then get the cats spayed and neutered otherwise you are a part of the stray cat population explosion and adding to the suffering.

Shelters and Rescue groups cannot handle the number of kittens. It is the fault of humans who don't get them spayed/neutered. Call around, many Veterinarian offices have monthly low cost spay and neuter programs as do Pet Supply Store. You have to be part of the solution.

Please do not simply let the growing kittens loose outside to die or get pregnant over and over.

OK, she's a kitten. That's what she does. Two years from now she'll be the whole opposite. That said, so much of what a cat learns, she learns from different cats. No different cats? Guess what, you are elected to be a cat. She needs an allowed situation[s] to scratch. Rub catnip at the scratching post and whenever she uses it, praise her and puppy her. When she scratches some situation Else, select her up, take her to her scratching post, and lightly scratch together with her paws, then praise her. You should also trim her nails. Be very cautious to not reduce them too short. Ask your vet easy methods to do it, and do it most commonly sufficient that she doesn't have time to expand any daggers. Lastly, so much of her vigor is play. Keep her up for the duration of the day via gambling together with her and she'll sleep extra at night time. A small snack correct earlier than mattress will inspire her to nap, since that's what cats do after consuming. She needs lively play and and not using a second kitten, you are elected.
