Can you change your last name to something random?
Is that possible?
I know there are some issues with changing your last name and it ends up being someone else's last name, but aren't there lots of people with the same surname who aren't related? That just doesn't make sense to me.
Besides, I want to change it to something unique and something not considered a last name. I want to change it to "Hjarta" which is the Icelandic word for "heart."
Is this possible, or will the system give me a really hard time trying to do it?
My last name isn't "Blaze," that's just a nick name. And yes, I'm 19 (:

No.
it's not hard at all. all you have to do is go to court and file a name change. It's a piece of paper you have to sign. More sort of like an application though. then they sign it ( I think the judge does). Then, it will be changed "legally" to whatever name you desire.

In the state of Ohio, you can change your name legally to just about anything you want. And as far as I know, they don't give you a hard time about it. You would have to look at your local court website about name changes and see if there is any additional info you would need.
