Why do cartoon characters always wear the same outfit?

For example The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy, Dora, Spongebob and so on....why don't they change it up at all??

    for 2 reasons

first is that it would cost to much to change their outfits every episode.

second is to make it so people recognize the character, and thus keep the show funny or whatever.

rather the caricature sequence 'completely Spies' ; the characters have distinctive clothing each episode, the only clothing that stay the comparable are their secret agent uniforms. yet each episode, counting video clips, they placed on some thing distinctive. all of them do.

Because the artists are too lazy to come up with a wardrobe for their characters. Haha

actually if you see the clothes behind the cupboard...

they have more than 30 pairs of same clothes...

its not that they never change them....

    example...

in one of spongebob episode when he goes to krusty krab for work, it seen that he has many pair of square clothes...XD

Some people are just too lazy.

Or there is no point to changing the clothes.

    Because it's cheaper.

The same reason they only have four fingers.
