How can I get a Youtube downloader that will work with Linux software?

I have been trying many, many sites in search of a Youtube downloader. Nothing I've tried works with my Ubuntu Linux software. And Pytube, which is supposed to be for Linux, is nowhere to be found. I don't know a lot about the inner workings of files on computers, and I just want to download the software then use it. Please help?

Update:

I'm trying to downloa.d videos so I can put it on a mp3 player. The player won't support flash, so I can't watch videos straight from Youtube

I don't know much about Linux, but it looks like there is a version of Firefox browser for it? If so, you can use an add-on called Video DownloadHelper. Works pretty good for me on Windows.

    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html

Source(s): My dial up is too slow to watch them streaming.

You know that you can get flash on Ubuntu, right?

"sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras" (without quotes, of course) will install Flash and all kinds of other goodies as well.
