Cat hissing at kittens?
Yes its well over time for these kittens to be off milk. She won't wean them but randomly gets in a weaning mood? It doesn't make sense.

Weaning is a gradual process. The mother will starts to deny the kittens sucking a little more over time, until finally, she never lets them. It is normal for kittens to suckle at times for up to 6 months, even though by then, of course they also eat solid food. Your mother cat is doing what is natural and correct.
The mother needs it to be a gradual thing so the milk gets slowly reduced. If it was all of a sudden, she would swell with milk and feel painful with no relief. She could then get infected mammary glands. So, just leave the cats alone. The mother cat will handle it all.
But, of course, do provide kitten food for the kittens starting at around 4 weeks of age. They will gradually eat more solid food, and nurse less. Be sure the kittens can see the mother cat eat solid food.

Your can is trying to wean her kittens. She is basically saying "Go away, you should be eating solid food now!" Try separating the kittens from her and giving them soft canned food, then hard food. If they have teeth they'll be fine.

you have to help the mother cat ween them. give them kitten chow show them the food in the bowl some will eat it first others take time. wet food once a day and milk in a bowl once or twice a day. water at all times. separate them from mom only if you have to. she is only telling them to stop if she hisses at them she knows when it time to ween them too when they get teeth in and it hurts her a little . hope this helps. I have raised two litters of kittens my self. now they are all grown up and have homes
