I need to know what each port on the left side of the mac is for.?
I've searched everywhere, and I could not find it out. Can someone tell me what each port on the left side of my Mac Leopard os x is for? I know the leftmost is for the battery charger, and the 5th and 6th are for USB. I'm pretty sure the second port is for ethernet (has a symbol of two dotted arrows going opposite directions). The 3rd icon is of a horizontal rectangle between two vertical lines, and the 4th icon is of some sort of figure that looks like a Y. Thanks if you can help.
Okay, I went there, and I went to the regular Macbook, and it does show some, but my laptop has more ports than what the diagram is showing me. I looked up Pro, and it doesn't have a diagram on the external ports. Would you happen to know what the Y symbol meant? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4167
is the diagram with most of my ports, but between the MiniDisplay Port and the first USB port there should be another port whose shape has three sides on the left and flat on the right. I'm looking to see if my laptop has a port that can connect with a DVI cable. Thanks.

The horizontal rectangle between two vertical lines refers to dvi, the Y shaped icon and the flat three sided on left icon relate to FireWire connections, the diagrams on here may help you compare to your laptop:
