Marriage Proposal Ruined?

Is it fair for a man to tell his girlfriend (after she has decided to break up with him) : "you know, I wasn't going to tell you this, it was supposed to be a surprise, but Im gonna tell you now. I was planning to propose to you on your birthday" (FYI: birthday is a month away).

Girlfriend feels this was unfair and BS! But guys out there! please give me some kind of explanation for this! Why are some men such cowards and fools? And say things to a woman only when they know they are loosing them forever?

Just curious!

    It's manipulation and he did it to regain control. When the gf walked away from him, she obviously was in control, and she felt she was making the right decision. The guy didn't like the relationship ending on HER terms, so he said something to mess with her head. And it worked.

    If it helps any, I've seen women do this same type of thing. It's a way of having the last word.

    Ummm...how do you know he was lying?

    Anyway, if he had any feelings for you, then when you broke up with him it hurt. It is natural to try to lash out when you are in pain. Men do it, women do it, puppies do it.

    Anyway, if you decided you didn't want him, why does the statement (maybe true, maybe a lie) that you could have had him forever cause you any pain?

    A guy pulled that one on me too. He said he had a ring and everything. BUT we broke up for a reason. I suspect that he was lying about the ring, just wanted everything his way. Don't believe your guy.

    i am not a guy but it sounds like to me that he only said that to make his self fell better and you like crap. Just a big ego. LOL he cant believe she broke up with him...

    Its human psychology to chase what retreats from you... it's a natural response.

    Do whatever YOU want to do... don't let others influence your decision, it will just cause you more pain in future...
