Can green tea on an empty stomach cause vomitting?

I was unable to sleep past 5:15 this morning, so I got out of bed an hour later. I'm trying an exercise regime recommended by Prevention called Walk for Weight Loss. The only thing diet-related that it suggests is drinking three cups of green tea a day, in addition to healthy eating habits obviously. I thought this would be the morning I give that a whirl since I'm up so early. I made a hot cup and mixed in two Splenda packets (I know, I know - I'm trying to stop). It's been a while since I last drank green tea and I do not at all drink coffee. Maybe 15 minutes had passed since I'd finished, and suddenly I feel my stomach and throat tightening. I puked (sorry for the lack of a better term). I thought I'd read somewhere that it was good to drink tea early and exercise (I haven't done the latter yet) before breakfast because it rouses your metabolism. Is it the caffeine in general I have to acclimate to, which I didn't think green tea had that much of, or is it just the empty stomach part that made me heave, do you think?

Your green tea shouldn't have made you vomit. If you have had it before with no ill effects it shouldn't have been an allergic reaction.

If you don't like it there is no reason to drink it. Black teas are just as good and apart from the caffeine content which can make people feel alert for a bit, none of them contribute to weight loss. It's a fallacy.

Some people are allergic to Splenda and the jury is out on it's safety (although I put it on fresh raspberries!).

    About Splenda...

"Evidence that there are side effects of Splenda is accumulating little by little. Sucralose has been implicated as a possible migraine trigger, for example. Self-reported adverse reactions to Splenda or sucralose collected by the Sucralose Toxicity Information Center include skin rashes/flushing, panic-like agitation, dizziness and numbness, diarrhea, swelling, muscle aches, headaches, intestinal cramping, bladder issues, and stomach pain. These show up at one end of the spectrum — in the people who have an allergy or sensitivity to the sucralose molecule. But no one can say to what degree Splenda affects the rest of us, and there are no long-term studies in humans with large numbers of subjects to say one way or the other if it’s safe for everyone."

I should think you had a tummy bug of some sort, or the lack of a good night's sleep caused your nausea. Or stress.

If we have a bit of infection brewing it often manifests itself in insomnia.

I don't think it can be the tea.... especially not after only 15 minutes.

yes, it is the tea.. most people don't know about it, but polyphenols in the tea case excessive stomach acid production, so if you have sensitive stomach - you will barf!
