Is yogurt harmful or beneficial to my cat? She really loves it.?
She makes such a pest of herself when I eat yogurt that I just have to give her some. Should I stop doing this or go ahead and just put it in her bowl?

Like many have answered, a little yogurt as a treat is not harmful. If you really want to treat your cat yogurt regularly, it is best to give plain unsweetened yogurt instead of those with fruits in them. Furthermore, studies have shown that cats cannot taste sweet, so plain yogurt is best.
While it is true that yogurt is a milk product and many cats are lactose intolerant, yogurt doesn't seems to cause as much tummy troubles as regular milk. Yogurt is an excellent source of calcium and phosphorus. Unlike milk, yogurt is one-step removed from fresh. It has already been consumed by a bacterium, and is therefore partially digested. This makes it very easy for cats and people to finish digesting.
Some cats suffering from IBD (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) can be given a small serving of yogurt to help digestion. Yogurt contain live beneficial bacteria which helps restore the balance of good bacteria in your cat's GI tract.
Hope this helps!

A small amount of yoghurt is OK and can in fact be beneficial to their digestion. Plain yoghurt is better though because the sugar in flavored yoghurt is not the best . They can handle it in small quantities but their whole system is made for eating animal based foods, not sugars and starches.
And I have no idea about how their bodies deal with artificial sweetener chemicals. I would hold off on that until checking with the vet and/or doing some more research to try to find an authoritative source. You could always keep a little carton of plain yoghurt w/ no sweeteners and give your cat a spoonful of that when you eat yours.

I have learned so much about cats diet that I should have kicked myself in the rear. Cats are mainly predators who catches mice and other rodents that are pests. This is already built into them. Yes, they can be good pets. For one thought I would love to share here. My mother on the other hand saw one of my kitten pick a mouse and threw it high and jump, caught it in mid air. Then my stepdad ordered the cat to stay in house because of its mousing. Cats need animal proteins and fats. the will help sustain their diet. Plant proteins from what I understand are roots of the causes of cats health being jeopardized. Please view the link at the source for more info. It really helped me a lot. It may also help others. Please give this a try to let me know what you think. I usually feed cats milk. I just found out that its not good for them. we all live and learn. Please im me if you need help with cats diet. I will do my very best to help those who need it the most.

It won't kill them, even though it somewhat is not probably stable for them the two. in case you insist on feeding your cat yogurt (which, in case you ask your vet, he will insist which you do not) feed them undeniable yogurt, and sprinkle in basic terms a sprint low-sodium salt on the actual. this might advance their water intake, which will help in struggling with crystals in the bladder (and definite, i understand this using fact i became stupid and fed my cat yogurt and pudding and Meow blend (i understand!!!!!) and he's now reported using fact the three thousand dollar cat because of this).

Given as a small treat, it's harmless. If it's got live cultures in it, it's actually good for her the same as those cultures are good for us. I'd avoid ones though that are high in sugar, as those carbohydrates aren't good for cats.

I would ask my Vet about yogurt . personally I wouldn't give it to my cats without asking if it would hurt them. they are finding out more stuff that isn't good for dogs/cats every day.

its not very good for cats or dogs, because it has milk ( i know its weird) your not suppost to give cats milk because its not good for them like it is for us.thats why we dont give them cheese, or chocolate.
my cat loves yogurt too. but if you just give her a little taste? like a couple of fingers, or a little light coat on the back of your spoon is ok, but not like a whole bowl, just wait until your done with it, and then give her SOME of the remains.
best of luck!
