Um.. would a bruised rib stick out after ~2.5 weeks?

Yeah, I fell hard into the hard arm of a couch on Friday, the fourth of June. There's an explanation, but all I'm gonna tell you is that I was letting my inner child out and I realize now that I should have been in a wide open space far from any unforgiving objects. rofl, anyways, it knocked the wind out of me and I couldn't talk normally for a couple minutes because my voice was sort of "squashed," if you get what I mean. And for the next couple weeks, it hurt like a biiiitch. Then it started to feel better, and yesterday it decided to hurt even worse for no apparent reason and so it occurred to me that it might actually be broken.. so I had my mother -- who is a nurse -- look at it, and part of it is sticking out in the affected area. It's not a huge part, but it's there. This is not the first time I've underestimated an injury, either, so I wouldn't be terribly surprised. So.. what do you fine folks think?

If it was bruised it wouldn't stick out. I suggest you go and get an X-RAY because it sounds broken to me. I was in a car accident a few years back, I "cracked" 9 ribs. It hurt for a long time but they never stuck out. If it is broken it might puncture your lung. "Go get checked!!!!!!"

Sounds like a break to me.

Nothing you can do about it now really. If you had went to a doctor earlier they may have strapped you up to allow the break to heal and the rib to remain in alignment. Go anyway and get it looked at
