How can we decrease the dependency on the government - study shows up 13 times?

Recent study shows dependency on the US government up 13 fold since Kennedy. How can we get these people out of a lifestyle of government supported programs and get them to be productive workers and citizens.

    1. Bring back family. You know an actual Mom and Dad. Not cheaters that breed like rabbits and let the boyfriend live in the section 8 house provided for the mom and her litter as if it's normal and honest.

    2. Support for one illegitimate child only. have a second and you must produce the father or volunteer to be sterilized..

    3. All aid is only a loan given for a short period of time. 6 months to a year max.

    4. Shoot all drug dealers that are caught. Drugs cause neglect and moral decay.

    5. Create jobs by shipping the illegals back home. No they aren't glamorous jobs .but jobs nonetheless.

This is the Trillion dollar question. Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet.

The first thing that would need to happen is job creation. A major reason why so many people are unemployed is that the economy doesn't have enough jobs to support its workforce right now. This is why so many people, many of which would rather be working to earn their money, are receiving unemployment benefits. Once jobs are available, many people will return to the workforce.

Another thing to consider is the fact that in a capitalist economy, unemployment rates of 3 to 10% are considered normal. So, while it would be great for everyone that wants to work to be working, that will not always happen. This will result in some for of dependence on government programs if they are available. Which begs the question, why not just do away with these programs entirely.

Well, part of the reason we have these programs is because the consequences of not having them are much worse. Many of the people receiving these programs are unemployable. Sometimes for reasons not of their own fault, and others because they just don't put any effort into life. Regardless, if it weren't for the money they receive from these programs, they would likely resort to crime. If this were to happen, the government would actually spend more money housing them in prisons than they do paying them benefits.

Overall though, the economy will need to to turn around before the need for these services come down. When people that are capable are not working because they can't find the opportunity to in this country, we all suffer.

The fact that most wages have remained steady when adjusted for inflation means that many of these non productive citizens are working more than 40 hours a week, or non voluntarily unemployed.

The current unemployment rate is what compared to 1960 at the height of America's industrial output?

The income gap between the wealthiest and the poor has increased by what percentage since our last legitimate President?

The fact is that most are being forced into these very programs that your are so worried about.

Maybe if we quit killing people all over the world, and ended our military occupation in any and every country we get an opportunity to build a base in, we could rebuild an industrial base to supply these useless citizens with an employment opportunity.

This would cut defense spending by a huge amount, even if we keep building the death toys we all love to watch parade around, and the cost of these programs would be inconsequential.

Government assistance programs are no longer providing assistance, people are using "assistance" as there livelihood. All of these programs should have a time limit! People need to be equipped with the knowledge and assistance they need in one year. They need to know what the end date of the program is and a plan for them to achieve success. In dire situations only, ay no fault of there own should the services be extended.
