Fixing a broken sink? Help!?
My daughter dropped her ceramic tooth brush holder into her bathroom sink and broke out the porcelain in the bottom of the bowl of the sink. It you pushed it hard enough it would fall out and be a hole the size of a fist in the sink bowl which you could reach through into the pipes below. We are having guests here tom. that will need the sink so I am wondering if there is some kind of patch or something that we could get at Lowe's Home depot to patch the over the hole temporarily? I am quite the handy woman, so I am not afraid to try anything since we will have to replace the sink regardless...
Any suggestions or answers are very appreciated!
Thank you!

Auto body repair kit at a car parts store?? Your sink probably isn't porcelain or it would have shattered. Some kind of a resin material, so a fiberglass repair kit just might work. Best bet would be to just tell everybody to use the kitchen sink then replace it after they leave.

Make that 4 that vote for *replace the sink * as repairing it would indeed take longer than replacing it. BTW, porcelain will not *shatter* every time, or even *most* of the time with something that small doing the damage. . A bathroom sink also has two layers near the drain, so cracking the top layer will not *necessarily* cause a leak. If it also cracks the bottom layer though, it would be totally unusable vs ugly but functional.

I agree with the above answerers. Just go buy a new sink in the morning. The stores are open tomorrow. You should have time to install it before guests come. Have your daughter help you with it. She broke it.

If you got all the pieces you could do a emergency repair but since you are able to change the sink, do it now because the time to repair the hole temporarily might not be worth the effort.

If you are 'quite the hand woman'.....the best thing to do is go and buy a new sink and get it installed before your guests arrive.
