Remington's 1911........?

I just became aware of the 1911R1. Has anybody here ever handled one? Does anybody have anything good or bad to say about this pistol?

Not anything good, yet. This is their first outing since about 1921 when Remington-UMC made a bunch for the US Army. The thing I don't like is they copied the Colt Series 80 firing pin block safety. Should have left it like John Browning designed it. NOTE: Don't confuse Remington Arms with the Remington-Rand typewriter company that made about a million 1911A1 pistols during WWII. They are not the same company.

jury is still out on this.Give it a little time. the big green R was once known for it's quality. Now? Look how they handled that 597 hmr fiasco. If ya gotta have one, colt,s&w, taurus, para, ruger. Shot all of them.May be a good 1911 but? Still own a colt, para, ruger, taurus No problems..Myself? I'm worried about how Remington tried to do the recall on the 17hmr 597. Should have done liker Ruger on the SR9. No bullshit. Had not even shot the gun when i FOUND ABOUT THE RECALL(sorry, button stuck)

Ruger fixed the gun, and sent me a hat and an extra magazine.Sorry. If Remington offers 2 or $250 for a rifle you paid more for?Get a Springfield or anything but the Remington.Unless, or until they gonna backthe consumer.(traded s&w for otherf guns)

Source(s): been there, done it, or got it. or shot it. 40 years experience here. 22 up to 454 mag.

The old Remington Rand pistols command quite a premium, but like it was said, the jury is still out on the new ones. I have several remington firearms and I love them. Lets hope they did it right with their new 1911's.

But it is a Remington and is made in the USA for around $600
