That would be INCREDIBLY irresponsible and immoral for you to let a backyard breeder use your cat for breeding. The only cats that should be used for breeding are REGISTERED, show quality, breed standard animals. And reputable breeders breed for the love of the breed and to better the breed. This person's reasons? SOLELY TO MAKE MONEY! How can she make money? Because people will pay for them - even without papers, sadly.

If you got your cat as a "rescue" why isn't he neutered? Any kittens you allow to come into this world because your cat mated with one of her backyard breeder females means KITTENS AND CATS PUT TO DEATH AT YOUR LOCAL SHELTER since people will take these kittens instead. And meanwhile you're SUPPORTING backyard breeders - the lowest of the low.

Another thing to take into consideration is PKD - Polycystic Kidney Disease. This is an early onset form of kidney disease that Persians are genetically predisposed to. Reputable breeders test for this disease and never breed PKD+ animals - bad breeders DON'T. Which means this person could be churning out litter upon litter of kittens that die as young as four years old. You want to be part of THAT as well? Or even end up with PKD+ kitten of your own????

GET YOUR CAT NEUTERED! If you want another Persian - go adopt one from a shelter. They're sadly one of the breeds most often surrendered since they're so high maintenance.

How did you come across this horrible backyard breeder?

NO - neuter him now. She's a backyard breeder and neither of the cats are tested for genetic problems (especially PKD which is rampet in Persians). Red and White is NOT a rare color and no way would a reputable breeder even cross those colors.

She is ripping off people at that price with no registration - but I'm sure she will find a few suckers to pay it. Don't be part of a scam by offering your cat to breed. Only top show quality registered cats should be in a breeding program.

Tell her you changed your mind and you will be neutering him - and call your vet and set up an appointment now.

Some people charge the earth for kittens and sadly some people don't research good breeders enough to realize they are paying over the price.

You say yourself the breeding service has lost it's appeal. Trust your gut instinct and don't trust her. Have you seen her queens, health certificates, blood test results, vets reports etc. (and has she seen your boys). Plus whats going to happen if he won't mate, or theres only one kitten. Or if the queen needs a Cesarean. If originally you agreed for him to Sire one set then shes already changed the original agreement. How do you know she won't again.

Perhaps she is less than truthful when making the sales and uses the

papers of other cats that she has that do have papers ...stating that they are the parent's and not the ones who actually are.

I have no idea of stud fees and such but If you cannot find another "deal" for your cat you may want to go for it even if you realize she is not 100% on the up and up if you trust her enough to belive she will honor the contract.

Is it possible to draw up a contract based on ounces of sperm produced? What if no pregnancy results? And your stud made his best effort with the lady cat--but her eggs are faulty?

It will depend on how much you want the line that your male can provide, also you don't have an provisions for compensation should your male basically screw himself to death, hit her with your own clause and see how she reacts. Mating can be a dangerous job for all involved make sure to protect your investment and if you are really attached to your guy just buy one of the lady's and save him the risk.
