If you are talking about competition:
I train in mainly BJJ and Judo with wrestling once a week. When I have competition I practice the hell out of each position and work on worse case scenerios, mainly. Once I get to the competition I listen to a lot of music like Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, and some Tupac.
Once I get to the competition I get into one of the stalls and start shadow boxing. I walk into my area clapping and recite this poem I read a few years ago at college by Maya Angelou.
I can't tell you what will help you but hopefully telling you my ritual will help you. Good luck.
If you are not competing, then don't be foolish. You gain nothing but a swell of pride and I promise you that type of pride can never lead to anything productive.

First of all don't fight because if you beat the crap outta the other guy then you might get in trouble but I guess if it can't be avoided then... To prepare for a fight just completely forget everything else, just concentrate on the fight. Oh, by the way, please don't kill anyone and don't get murdered yourself. If you can avoid it, avoid it.

depends on what kind of fight,
Sparring/ Training: Remember everything you know/ have learned, don't think about it too much tho or u will start thinking too deeply
Street Fight: Bad idea and should not accept or join but if its emergence/self defense then first should be instinct to fight to defend yourself, best words ive heard are "Remember there is a difference from self defense and assault, do what u can to defend yourself but not pushing it" and also "You fight better when your scared"

In a psychological term its called future pacing. i think about the fight and all of the possible outcomes. by the time i got to my fight i had already fought the fight a thousand times and i feel ready for it.

Never plan to fight, always try to avoid it but know that you might have to. That's rule #1.
If you mean sparring, I don't need to prepare. I don't intend to hurt them and they don't intend to hurt me. So I'm okay.

I'm a newbie kickboxer.
the best thing for me is to go in knowing if i take my opponent lightly i will get beat. i like to think they have the power to beat me just like i have the power to beat them. the difference is I'm gonna be the smarter fighter and find a weakness and attack it. its best to kno u can win and not doubt yourself
