What's it like to live in your state?

I asked this question before but I only got one anwser.

I live in Texas. I really love it here, but I wanna know how it's different from my homestate.

(FACTS ABOUT TEXAS)

• It's extremley hot in the summers (epecially where I live in the Southeast region).

• The people are so friendly here and we are very prideful about our state.

• We only have 2 seasons patterns l. Cold and hot. Winters are freezing but it still feels great outside.

• We have mountains in the east, flat plains in the panhandle, rolling hills in the central/hill county region, ocean views in the coast, and pinney forest in the east.

• Not to brag but you gotta try our Texas bar-b-q. It's a real mouth-watering experiance.

• We have the biggest rodeo in the world every year. (Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo).

•Our state dish is chili.

• Mexican Food is called Tex-Mex.

• We not a partly state, we mostly like to stay at home and sit out side, have a beer and enjoy nature with the family. (I live on private land that my family owns so all my aunts, uncles and cousins live beside me. It's great to be with the family all the time.)

    Hey!

Well, I actually don't live in the U.S., but if you don't mind, I'll answer anyway (:

I've lived in Kuwait for almost my whole life, and this is what it's like:

-Nobody really goes outside. I mean there are parks and stuff, but it's either too hot or too dusty, or the dead of winter (which doesn't go below 50 degrees there usually)

-Summer gets as hot as 120 degrees, sometimes a bit higher.

-People have a HUGE thing about reputation here.

-We don't really walk anywhere (I mean, I walk up and down the block to Starbucks or McDonald's, but you don't really walk anywhere), mainly because it's all highways and main streets, but also because since people drive everywhere, the sidewalks aren't exactly walk-on-me material. =P

-Nobody lives in the middle of the desert. In fact, most people live in villas and go out to the desert on ATVs. Either that, or they live in an apartment building and don't know or like any of their neighbors (like me :D)

-On Kuwait's independance day, instead of fireworks and stuff, everyone crowds along this major highway (Gulf Road, it's right by the beach) and stocks up on foam cans, spraying all the cars that pass by. Sometimes it gets out of hand and some people try to open up your doors, but for the most part it's pretty fun to be stuck in traffic and watch everyone go at it.

-My school is outdoors. It includes fake grass and a few cracked walls, but a killer auditorium.

-Usually there is no 'big school finals' and stuff. There are school games and things, but usually the only people who watch (let's say the varsity girl's basketball team is playing) would be the JV basketball teams and the varsity guys' team, and maybe a few other people with school spirit (like me)

-Hanging out involves either the mall for dinner and a movie, or someone's house for chilling out and the possibility of baking cookies.

-Not many people go on dates here. It's more like, 'hey, I like you, wanna be my girlfriend?' 'oh yeah okay!' It's pretty weird, but because of the 'reputation' thing, most parents won't let their girls hang out with guys, so the girl being asked out either lies, or doesn't go out on dates. It's weird. =P

-Many people use conections (its called wasta) to do things they can't normally do. We don't have driver's permits here, you can only drive when you're 18. But my friend used his wasta to get his driver's liscence at 16, almost 17. Many people use this too much, to a level that's disgusting really, but what're you gonna do?

-After school fights involve calling all your cousins, standing behind a little store or car garage with the guy you're supposedly fighting, and yell at each other.

    -People are VERY mainstream.

This concludes our tour for today :D

I live in Phoenix, AZ. It sounds like it's similar to Texas, except for the friendly people. Scottsdale is for the rich (snobby). Most athletes live there. South phoenix is for the poor (mexicans) and has a high crime rate. Tempe is kind of a college town because of ASU main campus is there. Flagstaff is the best part of AZ because of the cooler weather in the summer and snowing during the winter. Summer temp can get up to 120. There's a lot of Phoenix Suns fans and we hate the San Antonio Spurs (sorry). and of course ...the Grand Canyon!! Right now if you've been watching the news, there's some tension between mexicans and the Republicans.

Well here in Southern California there are a bunch of superficial girls (who are very pretty though), I kind of fit that mold except I'm not superficial.... oh and alot of Mexicans and asians. I'm a vegetarian and luckily there are a ton of healthy restaurants here. See "California Gurls" by Katy Perry for more great facts about the Golden State <3
